Jenna had spent some time every day looking online for pillows and pictures for the apartment. She was sick of the dull tones ofthe men’s decor.
She was looking through one of the decorating magazines the men had bought her when the elevator doors slid open.
She was surprised to see Noelle. The woman was smiling, but there was tension about her, whichJenna didn’t understand. She’d only seen the woman a few times when she had dropped off food for them.
“Hi, Noelle. Is there something I can help you with?” Jenna stood to face the woman.
“Hey, Jenna. Where are your mates?”
“Ben is in his office, and Rowan is dealing with something but will be right back.”
Jenna’s eyes widened when the woman pulled a gun from her pocket.
“What are you doing?” Jenna asked.
“You need to come with me,” Noelle said.
Jenna could see her getting more and more agitated the longer they stood there, but she wanted to distract her and give Rowan some time to get back.
“Why are you doing this?”
“Because I’m sick of humans taking our men. I can’t standthe thought of being with a human man. They are so pathetic and weak. I don’t care if the human is my mate or not.”
“We didn’t have a choice, Noelle. You know that.”
Noelle waved the gun around. “Come here, now. We’ve got to go before the men get back.”
Jenna crossed her arms over her chest. “You know they will kill you when they find out you’re threatening me.”
“Shut up!” she screamed.
Jenna hoped someone would have heard her and come to see what was happening.
“What if I say no?”
“Then I kill the person that comes out of the elevator.”
“You’d kill your Alpha?” Jenna asked.
She could tell the thought upset the woman, but she didn’t lower the gun.
“If I must. Now, come on.”
“I expected this from someone like Morgan but not you. I was hoping we could be friends,” Jenna told her.
The woman sneered. “Not going to happen. I only like being with shifters. I’m getting pissed, cunt. Get over here, or someone’s death will be on your conscience.”
The thought of one of the men getting hurt sickened her and gave her the courage to walk over to the woman. Jenna cried out when she latched onto her arm, digging her nails into her skin. The woman was much stronger than she was and easily dragged her to the elevator. Once on, she pushed a number to a floor Jenna had not been to.
“Are you going to kill me?”
Noelle snorted. “No. I’ll give you to someone who will, though.”
Jenna had a sick feeling in the pit of her stomach. She took a guess. “You know Payne?”
Noelle chuckled. “Very well. The man is a sick bastard, but he knows how to fuck.”
“I didn’t know dogs and cats fucked each other,” Jenna said.
