The two came to stand in front of his desk.
“Ben, I’d like you to meet our … Jenna,” Rowan said.
Mate. That was what he wanted to yell from the top of the building. It was a dream he’d wished for since he was a cub. He’d always been told the chances of finding your true mate were not great and to not get his hopes up. It had been hard to do at times, especially when he was around other pack members and their mates.
Ben could see and feel the depth of their love for each other every time, and it always stirred up his emotions. A few times, after spending time with the mated couples, he’d been depressed for days. He would never have shown it and never admitted it to anyone, even his brother.
He realized she was staring at him, and her grip on his brother’s wrist was tight. He smelled the air and couldn’t detect any fear—just arousal from all three of them and confusion from her.
Ben stood and walked around the desk to stand in front of her. He caught the scent Rowan had been telling him about. His friend, brother, and beta of the pack just hadn’t told him how intoxicating and arousing it was.
His eyes roamed over her. She was wearing a dress that reached an inch above her knees. Its light flower designmade her look more feminine.
He clutched his hands into fists to prevent himself from reaching for her. He looked toward his beta to see the huge smile on his face. He could tell he was as captivated by her as Rowan was, telling them everything they needed to know. They wereboth her mates.
Rowan chuckled. “This is perfect.”
Ben nodded. “I agree.” He felt his canines elongate as his wolf tried to take over, but he held it back, knowing she didn’t know what they were yet, and he didn’t want to frighten her.
“I smell you on her.”
Rowan grinned. “Well, I’ve been with her for several hours and in close proximity, so that’s natural.”
“What are you guys talking about?” she asked as she looked back and forth.
Rowan cleared his throat and tightened the arm around her waist. “I’m sorry, Baby. There is so much the three of us have to talk about.”
“Like what?” she asked in confusion.
Ben held his hand out to her. He almost growled at the surge of energy that raced through him when she touched him. He bit back a grin when he saw she was also affected.
“How about we sit down?” Ben said, pointing to a seating area with a sofa and a few chairs.
Rowan and Jenna walked to the sofa and saton it. His brother took her hand to try to calm her. Ben pulled up one of the chairs so he could sit directly in front of her but not touch her. He kept both legs still on the outside of hers.
“We’ve got a lot to talk about, Pet.”
Jenna stared at him. “Okay.”
“Let’s start with the threat we’ve heard about against you.” Ben glanced at Rowan and then back. “We want you to know we will protect you. That you’re safe with us.”
Jenna looked back and forth between the two. “I don’t think it’s fair to you. You can’t put your lives on hold for who knows how long.”
“Actually, we can.” Ben thought about how much they should tell her right then. At the beginning of their livestogether. “Let’s talk about the way you feel. Rowan described the attraction you both had for each other from the very beginning. You felt it also?”
She nodded.
“May we experiment? I want you to let me kiss you and see how it feels.”
Her eyes widened. “Wait. What?”
Rowan squeezed her hand. “We’ve got much to tell you, Baby, but I want you to open your mind. Let him kiss you. From the flush on your face, I can tell you’re also attracted to him.”
“That’s crazy. I’m not like that.”
Rowan smiled. “Oh, we know. Kiss him first, and then we’ll explain more.”
Jenna looked at the hand Ben held out. “Come here, Pet.”
