He began begging for his life as the men dragged him outside. Grey ordered one of the prospects to clean up the blood before leading me back toward an office at the end of a hallway.

“Let’s talk in here.” I sat down across from him and he rubbed his eyes wearily. “He fucking took Dakota tonight, Mikey.”

Dakota was Grey’s youngest daughter and my half-sister. Other than a brief encounter with her at the gym where she’d managed to bust open her leg and promptly pass out, I didn’t know much about her. We shared the same hair and eyes, but that was where the similarities ended as far as I could tell. The sight of blood didn’t do shit to me. She must’ve gotten those genes from her mom.

Grey continued. “I’d agreed to their marriage months ago; I thought it was a win-win situation for everyone. The Blake family has transported for us for years. After seeing Lauren on your wedding day though, I had second thoughts. Dakota deserves the same happiness that you have and Jackson would’ve made her miserable.

“I backed out of the merger and he called off the wedding. I thought that was the end of it until he took her tonight. I guess he thought that he and his fucking pal, Bill, would use her as leverage to get what they wanted from the club.”

I blinked slowly, trying to absorb all of the information he was hurling at me, while also calculating how little sleep I was going to be getting tonight. “So, the blood?”

Grey’s mouth went flat. “Dakota has a broken nose and Zane got shot in the shoulder trying to protect her.”

I grimaced. Zane was UC—there was no covering up on this one. I wracked my brain. “What’s the story with them?”

He smiled. “He fucking loves her—”

“Great. I can use that. Okay, what if we use the cop angle and run with it? It might be enough to keep suspicion low as long as Masterson plays along.” I wasn’t sure if I could pull any of it off, but it was worth a try. “What’s going on with the Blakes?”

Grey ran a finger across his throat before adding, “They’re thinking of fleeing the country once it comes out that they’ve cooked their books.”

Okay. This wasn’t that bad. I’d handled worse.

Jarvis burst into the office. “Slight problem,” he panted.

Fuck.

“I know I was supposed to keep an eye on Kate, but I got busy with club shit and she—um, well she’s in Vegas.”

Grey shrugged. “So, she’s safer there than she is here. She’s a grown woman, Jarvis. I think she’ll be okay.”

He shook his head. “Well, she’s with the doctor and based on their credit card trail, I think they’re getting married.”

Grey and I pinched the bridge of our noses simultaneously. How I’d missed our similarities before was beyond me.

Now, I was going to have to add that to my list of shit to sort out. Dakota was kidnapped and Kate was fucking eloping in Vegas. Jesus, keeping the Quinn girls safe was more work than dealing with the club.

They were like kindergartners left in a room without a teacher while hopped up on sugar—absolute fucking holy terrors.

And we were blood relatives.

What did that say about me?

“Check your inbox now and tell me how fucked I am.” Jeremy sounded like he’d been sitting in front of his computer for the last two days. Knowing him, he probably had.

I clicked on the message and a surveillance video popped up. There was Kate, completely shit-faced, clinging to the doctor as they leftA Little White Wedding Chapel. He wasn’t looking too sober either, if his swaying was any indicator.

Her dark hair was pulled up in a bun, which was typically how I saw her. She’d always been gorgeous, but in an ice queen sort of way. The woman took herself way too seriously and—Kate looked up at him and grinned.

I’ll be damned.

She was in love with him. I’d never seen her smile once and hadn’t understood why Grey’s guys fell over their dicks trying to get close to her.

Without his knowledge, of course. Go after one of Grey’s girls and you could kiss your balls goodbye. She was pretty under normal circumstances, but with that smile, she took it to another level entirely.

“Well, Jarvis,” I deadpanned, using his road name just to piss him off. “You are completely and utterly fucked. This is worse than the time you hooked up with her.”

He went silent before asking, “How the fuck did you know about that?”
