Unfortunately, Tony didn't. Before she could react he had his gun out and pointed at her. Her world focused down to him, and that gun. She positioned herself so she was between Nadya and a bullet. Diana had been shot before and, as long as he didn’t get lucky, if he fired she would survive long enough to make sure he didn’t get her niece.
“Not so tough now,” Tony mocked and stepped closer. “Your girl broke the rules when she attacked me, so I can do anything I want to both of you.” The gun was pointed right at her head so she didn’t dare move. “I’m going to fuck some humility back into you, bitch.”
Diana gave him a cold smile, a plan forming in her head. “I’d heard that the only way you could get a woman into your bed was at gunpoint. I thought they were lying since you have that pretty boy face.” She chuckled looking at his now bloody cheek. “Though I guess it’s not that pretty anymore.”
“Puttana!” He pulled back the gun to pistol whip her and she moved.
She ducked under the blow and grabbed his wrist in a twisting motion using his own momentum against him. As she circled with him, she swept his legs out from under him and wrenched the gun from his grip. He went face down onto the ground and she stood with the gun now under her control. She aimed at the back of his head. There was no time to hesitate. She pulled back on the trigger.
Someone grabbed her shoulder causing the shot to miss his head and end up hitting the floor instead. Diana spun, pointing the gun at her newest attacker, intending to take him out before returning her focus to Tony.
Chapter7
People think I’m crazy, then they meet my family and realize I’m not so bad.
There were many ways Highdive had pictured seeing Luna again but he had to admit this scenario hadn’t even occurred to him. Staring down the barrel of a gun, her eyes locked on his with a killer’s gaze that felt like ice. She was glorious. Dressed in combat gear, hair pulled back in a tight ponytail, and not even breathing hard after taking down a man who was almost twice her size. She was almost sexier than when she kneeled before him naked and submissive. Almost. His cock pulsed it’s agreement even though Highdive wasn’t sure if she was going to pull the trigger or not.
“What the fuck is going on here?” Hawk’s voice cut through his daze like a heated knife.
He didn’t have an answer for his President. The meeting had broken up and Clean had come to tell them that the courier was there with Akula’s package. They had headed down the hallway to find out what the crazy Russian woman had sent them. The sounds of an argument had spurred them into moving faster.
They had come out to see Tony, one of the Minetti soldiers, holding a gun to Luna’s head. Rage had burned across his skin at the thought of her in danger. The man had gone to strike her but before Highdive could do anything she had moved like a demon and taken him down. He had tried to pull her away so he could kill the man for daring to attack his woman.
That was where everything had gone odd. Luna had turned the gun on him and stared at him like they were strangers. It was as if they were caught in a frozen moment in time. Recognition finally entered Luna’s eyes, but she didn’t lower the gun. What the hell was going through her mind?
“Put the damn gun down, Diana,” Hawk snarled.
How did Hawk know his woman? He spoke her name as if he not only knew her but knew her well enough to expect her to obey him. Highdive looked at his President with shock.
Luna, or should he say Diana, gave a shrug. She lowered the gun, ejected the magazine, and cleared the chamber before offering it to him. Her motions were practiced and casual. As if she didn’t have a worry in the world, that fighting for her life was boring and routine. She looked at him and only the slight tightness around her eyes gave him any indication that she might be concerned. How much didn’t he know about the woman who haunted his thoughts?
“Diana?” Highdive asked in a low tone as he took the weapon.
“Long story. Promise to tell you later.” With those few words it was like the shutters dropped and her eyes iced back over.
She strode away to stand in front of the only other female in the room. The young woman appeared to be around twenty. The two women looked as if they were related with similar dark hair and strong features. But the girl had an air of innocence about her that had never been a part of his submissive. Could the two be sisters? Why would she have brought her sister here? The idiot on the ground rolled over and stood.
“That bitch attacked me then her guard dog tried to shoot me. I demand to take them with us for punishment.”
Tommaso Minetti stepped out of the hallway with a mildly interested look on his face. He was completely put together, as always, in his designer suit. He seemed to study his man then the two women.
Tony had scratches on his face. Neither of the women looked injured. There were very definite rules that covered what was and wasn’t allowed when it came to violence during meetings like this. No one was allowed to start a fight except Dark Sons and their family. It was one of the main reasons they kept family and any hot head Brothers away.
Hawk looked at Diana. “Is that what happened?”
She gave Tony a look that would have made a sane man fear for his life. “Minus the fact that he threatened to rape her before she attacked him.”
The growl from the Dark Sons in the room should have made the idiot Italian back down but he didn’t. “There are no rules about what we say. Only what we do.”
Tommaso looked at Hawk and gave a shrug. “They are your rules.” The man didn’t look happy with his soldier, but with so many outsiders around there was no way he wouldn’t back his man.
If they let that dickhead take Diana and the girl with her every one of them knew what would happen. Bending the rules wasn’t an option or they would never be able to hold a peaceful meeting again. Every asshole would try to test the boundaries claiming the rules were unclear. Highdive might be mad at Diana for keeping things from him but not to the point that he would let her be raped and killed.
Hell, he didn’t want to see her hurt ever. The last few months she had given him something no other person had ever been able to. She had given him peace and a happiness that with time he was sure would have grown into more. Even weeks apart, knowing she had been keeping secrets, hadn’t changed those feelings. Seeing this new bad-ass side of her made her even more attractive.
He had to do something to save her. But what? The rules were very specific. If she wasn’t family then…
“She’s my Old Lady. She’s family.” The wild idea was out of his mouth before he even processed the possible consequences. It was a solid plan at least for the short term. Everyone looked at him with the same look of shock which was good because no one noticed the disbelief on Diana’s face before her cold mask of indifference settled back into place.
