“Not a bad thing,” Handsome said sagely. “Sometimes being small is good, too.”

“I don’t see how that would help.”

The butler shrugged. “It would depend on the situation. Either way, I trust that you’ll use that for our good.”

“To protect my family.”

Handsome smiled. “Good. Now, would you like a page or two of pickup lines? I’m sure that will improve your nightly courting ritual—”

Pinks didn’t even wait for him to finish. Hefled.

Galent was pullingout some celery from the fridge, when Pinks gagged.

Galent looked up. “Sweety-Pinks?”

Pinks shook his head quickly. “No celery. I cansmellit. It’s gonna make me puke.”

Galentthrewthe celery back into the fridge and slammed the door, hurrying over. “Crap. Are you going to throw up now?”

“Yes.”

Galent swept Pinks off his chair and sprinted to the nearest bathroom. But his up-and-down gait only made Pinks gag harder.

“Oh, gods. Stop.”

“But you’re going to puke!”

“I’m going to puke all over youright nowif you don’t stop!”

Galent froze abruptly, swaying with his extra momentum. Pinks grimaced and swallowed.

“Okay, walk calmly to the bathroom.”

Galent walked, and deposited Pinks in front of the toilet. Pinks promptly bent over and heaved.

Large hands carefully touched him, brushing his hair back from his face. Galent rubbed Pinks’ back and crouched with him, watching him worriedly.

“You don’t have to sit with me.” Pinks grimaced. “It’s ugly and it stinks.”

“It’s happening because I put a baby into you.”

“Yeah, but—”

“Pinks.” Galent squeezed him around the waist. “Let me help. I promise this isn’t going to chase me away.”

“You’re not supposed to bring up the Bathroom Incident.”

Galent grinned. “I never mentioned it. You did.”

Pinks scowled. Galent bit down his smile, but his eyes were still bright. He rubbed Pinks’ back, then filled a glass with water and handed it over.

Pinks flushed the toilet and rinsed his mouth, then flushed it again. “Ugh. Celery, of all things.”

“Good thing it wasn’t steak. I would miss steak.”

That made Pinks chuckle. “Same here.”

Galent nuzzled him affectionately. Then Pinks’ stomach rumbled, and they both looked down.
