Page 58 of Rim Job

“This is fancy as hell. Rim, it's like you're Daddy Warbucks and I'm Little Orphan Annie. Will you adopt me? Can I call you Daddy?” Evelyn laughs as she peers out over the half-time activity on the football field from the owner's suite. They are setting up a stage on the field.

My wonderful boyfriend owns a damn football team.

Well, my husband, technically.

We decided we'd wait on that annulment and see how dating goes. So far, it's pretty damn great. We both travel back and forth to see each other but luckily, with the help of his staff, Rim can work from anywhere.

Rim and I laugh at Evelyn just before she squeals like a kid finding all their presents on Christmas.

“There he is!! Oh, my goodness! There that hunk of eye candy is! Big Dix!” she shouts and bangs on the glass enclosure from her seat.

“You know, I told you I can introduce you. He is my employee, after all.”

Evelyn's head swivels in slow motion toward Rim. Her mouth is hanging open wide. She smiles that devil smile of hers, and I know before she speaks that I am going to be embarrassed.

“Rimmington Banks. You just became my favorite of the husbands. I mean, sure Beck is hot, and a rock star, and has the biggest wiener on Earth, but if you can introduce me to my husband, you beat him in my book.”

Rim throws his head back and laughs.

Damn, he is so sexy.

I hate to break it to Ev, but Rim is no slouch in the wiener department. I'll keep that to myself, though.

“Evelyn, for you, consider it done. But first, I have a little surprise.” The lights in the stadium go down.

Tyson Crawford’s voice comes over the P.A. system. My favorite song. My favorite band. Beauty of Atrocity—Beck’s band.

“I had no idea you were getting Beck’s band to play tonight.” I turn toward Rim.

Only he’s not standing; he's on one knee at my feet.

“Christina, would you do me the honor of marrying me, again?”

I smile, my heart full of love. This beautiful man, who has shown me so much happiness in the last few months, is everything.

I took a gamble on love, and I won.

I'd be a fool to say anything other than…

“Yes.”
