Would it feel different over my skin?
Against my breasts?
I swallow, my breath coming a little faster, my eyes flicking to the surface of the water where the brown peaks of my nipples crest above the rippling heat.
My fingers skim over one, pinching lightly, and my breath hitches.
It’s been too long.
Too long since I’ve let myself sink into pleasure, since I’ve allowed myself to just relax.
I trail my other hand down, sliding between my thighs, parting my folds, stroking over the sensitive bud that’s begging for attention.
A soft gasp slips past my lips as pleasure pulses low and deep, a slow, pleasing ache unraveling inside me.
I circle faster, teasing, building the sensation, my body tingling with heat, my thighs tensing, trembling.
And when I finally tip over the edge, my back arching, pleasure crashing through me in slow, pulsing waves, I let out a breathless sigh, my body boneless, spent.
Just what I needed.
Just enough to clear my head.
At least—for now.
I exhale sharply, shaking my head.
Nope. No. Not doingthis.
I came here foradventure, not for complications.
And Ronan Silverpelt?
Definitelynotthe kind of man a woman like me gets tangled up with.
Even if, for the briefest moment, Iwantedto know what it would feel like… if he caught me.
Chapter Five
NOT LURKING (DEFINITELY NOT)
Ronan
Luna isat the crafting table, cutting ribbons and tying up bundles of dried herbs, fully engrossed in whatever decoration scheme she’s cooked up for the Sweetheart Wilds Festival. The floor is already littered with scraps of fabric and half-finished projects, and I have no doubt the lodge will be covered in rustic charm by the time she’s done.
I barely glance at her setup as I scan the room, looking for?—
“She isn’t here,” Luna says, not even pausing in her cutting.
I scoff, crossing my arms. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
She does pause at that, leveling me with a look that sends an uncomfortable chill down my spine.
Luna has our mother’s eyes, and our mother had an unsettling way of seeing through people, like she could sniff out lies before they were even spoken.
I knew better than to say that out loud.
“You’re not subtle, dear brother,” Luna muses, going back to her work. “You could barely keep your tongue in your mouth at her presence.”
