A few dudes here tonight play for other schools—a few of them are Wisconsin’s conference rivals. The fact is, I’ll be back in Texas in a few months to play one of them…

So yeah.

I ain’t shit, and they’re letting me know it.

“Lizzy is the one over there in the hot pink dress.”

I follow his gaze to the other side of the room to the clique of girls near the small entryway, clustered at the base of the stairs, and give the girl in the hot pink dress a quick perusal.

Small.

Compact.

Blonde.

“She’s not my type,” I finally say to get him to climb down off my nuts.

“Bullshit. She’s everyone’s type.”

“Not mine.” Seriously, just ’cause she’s cute doesn’t mean my dick will automatically get hard for her.

What an idiot.

I give Grady the side-eye. “What about you, bro? You’re single. Why aren’t you over there taking your own advice?”

He ducks his head to hide his grin. “I’ve kind of been talkin’ to someone.”

“Hold up.” My brows lift in surprise. “You’ve been talkin’ to someone and haven’t told me about it?”

“Dude, not so loud.”

I smack him on the bicep. “Dude, no one’s listenin’. Tell me who you’re talkin’ to. Where’d you meet her?”

“An app.” He sounds embarrassed.

“Why are you embarrassed? Drake met Daisy on an app.” It’s almost impossible to meet someone in person these days. Even when you meet them organically in the wild, there’s still no guarantee there will be chemistry on the first date.

I should know.

I spent the first half of this year putting myself out there and asking girls out and look where it got me. My brother is dating the girl he catfished on my behalf.

He has the balls to roll his eyes at me. “Casey’s real.”

“Kay. I’m just sayin’… I don’t want you wasting your time if this Casey person isn’t real when the actual thing is right in front of you and you’re missing your chances.”

He scoffs. “Take your own advice.” He gives me a nudge. “You act like an old man whose dick has shriveled off.”

I nudge him back. “You should talk. You’re standing right beside me, asshole.”

Grady laughs. “Hey, we’re here for Lucas. Not to get laid.”

I clamp him on the shoulder. “I mostly came to see you. I could give a shit about Lucas. You were right when you said I needed to let loose and chill, but…” My shoulders move up and down in a shrug. “Not sure how to. I just need to unwind and not overthink everything.”

“Not sure how? Brother, the answer is right here!” He lifts his red cup high in the air. “Listen up, everyone,” he shouts. “Our friend Drew here needs your help letting loose. Who wants to be the first one to welcome him home?”

The crowd goes wild, cheers filling the entire house. But considering the place is packed, I’m not surprised.

A stupid grin widens my smile, but I swear to God I would be completely shocked if my face weren’t bright red right now. The thought of being the center of attention is almost crippling. I’m not normally so introverted, but my brother is usually with me.
