I shook my head. “No. I needed that. Bad.”

He smiled and kissed me one more time. Slowly, he sat up, tilting his hips to pull out.

I missed his cock already.

“I’ll be back,” he said. “Gonna clean up. I’ll get you a towel.”

“Okay.” I nodded.

He left and came back quickly. We cleaned up a little, and he climbed back into bed beside me.

“Tired?” he asked.

I nodded. “Exhausted.”

“Then go to sleep.” He wrapped one arm around my shoulders, holding me close.

I turned toward him, tucking my head under his chin, and closed my eyes.

Chapter Twenty

Ryker

The alarm going off wasn’t mine, but it was all right.

I needed to get moving, anyway. Daisy had been home alone all night and needed breakfast before I went to work.

But Sydney looked so beautiful next to me, starting to stir at the sound of her alarm.

I leaned over and pressed a kiss to her shoulder.

“Mm…hey.” She smiled up at me.

“Hey.” I put my hand on her hip, running it up and down her side.

Sydney moaned, her eyes drifting closed again. “Mm, we can’t.”

“No?”

“No.” She sighed. “I gotta go to work. So do you.”

She was right, but hey, my hours were flexible. I was sure I could convince her. I just needed a minute.

“You still feel good about last night?” I asked.

“Yeah.” She let out a dreamy little sigh. “Real good.”

“No regrets?”

“No.” She sat up slowly, stretching, then batted my hand away as I reached for her. “I only wish I hadn’t waited. I wish I hadn’t let Mark talk me into waiting.” She laughed, shaking her head. “I mean, you know, I spent so long thinking that I had to wait until I was married, and I didn’t. Not at all. I should have done this a long time ago.” She laughed, shaking her head.

Good. I was glad she was happy.

I shifted closer, wrapping my arms around her. She leaned back against my chest, sighing.

“You know, I did that once, too. Tried to do what someone I loved wanted. And it didn’t work out for me, either.”

“Really?” Sydney tilted her head to look up at me.
