Fuck. “She’s been drawing up a storm, lately.” He pushed her legs open, ready to use the one distraction capable of changing the subject. “Let’s talk about this.” He kissed along her lower belly peeking out beneath the snug t-shirt. “How is our precious Petite?”
“The size of a full-grown crawfish. And Maggie’s is the size of a little claw.”
His head popped up to a huge smile and nod.
“She’s pregnant,” she whispered, giving a giddy little clap.
“Does Spook know?”
“She planned to tell him tonight.”
“Holy fuck,” Bishop whispered, his pulse ramming his chest as it hit him. All the wives would be turning up pregnant. All of his soldiers would be faced with the same burden he was.
He turned, needing space to breathe and think.
“What’s wrong?” she worried softly.
“That was the news you wanted to tell me? From Maggie?” he asked, still pacing.
“Yes. Do you think he’ll be upset?” she panicked at the possibility.
“No, he’ll be fuckingthrilledI’m guessing. And then he’ll be like I am, wanting to hide her in a cave till the storm blows over.Fuck!”
He stormed aimlessly around the room, his anger back to thick and black.
“Well…you’ll help him?”
“I need to call Seer.” He made his way back to her and wrapped his arms around her body, clinging.
“Bishop, what’s wrong?” she begged quietly, her fingers taking him back to heaven.
He let out a long breath. “Whatisn’twrong?”
She let out a tiny sputter. “Somany things,” she assured. “I know you’re freaking out about what’s going on in the world but we’re safe here. I’ve never felt more safe anywhere in my life,” she assured.
Fuck. She didn’tknow about the drawing or the trip.
He slowly stepped back, his fingers pressing into her softness as his arms fell heavily to his sides. “Seer had a vision,” he whispered, meeting her worried gaze.
“Okay,” she said softly, nodding. “Seer’s visions are good. We don’t need to fear them.”
He shook his head at her before turning.
“We donotneed to fear them,” she repeated firmly.
“Keep repeating that,” he said, his fears fully engaging his muscles until he paced again. “Because we’re required to rescue a woman using Rukem’s bridge.”
“Who’s…we?”
“Me, you, Maggie, and Seer and Zodak, and the fucking triplets. And guess what?Spookwasn’tin the vision, and I really don’t want to think aboutwhythe fuck that is since there’snowayhe’ll let her go anywhere without him much less into the ass-crack of hell while fuckingpregnant.”
He stared at her shocked face. “Seer saw this?”
“And your sisterdrewit,” he added quietly, steadying his breaths.
“What… do you plan to do?”
He closed his eyes and lowered his head. “I plan to do exactly…what his vision says to do. Because there’s a second drawing of what happens if I don’t.”
