Tears pressing at the back of my eyes.
My heart being held in a heartbreaking vice grip.
The promise I want from him, the words I desperately want to hear I can’t give him in return.
He pulls me back slightly so his eyes can search mine. In them he finds the answer. “You can’t, can you?”
Shaking my head I reply in a whisper, “No.”
“Then don’t ask that of me.”
Tears gather in my eyes. His face becomes blurry. “I just don’t want anything to happen to you.” The fear of losing him is paralyzing.
Swiping his thumb underneath my eye he catches a tear that has managed to escape. “Nothing will,” he assures me.
“How can you be so sure? You heard what Caitlin said. You saw a glimpse of how crazed Razor can be. How can you be so sure?”
“Because our love is enough. It makes us stronger. It gives us something to fight for. Our love gives us something to live for. There is nothing that can tear us apart, Alice. Not even death.”
His lips then crash down on mine. He kisses me with intensity. It’s brutal and raw. Passionate yet fierce. It’s as if he’s trying to convince me with his body what his words can’t.
By the time he’s done with his kiss, leaving me breathless and with swollen lips, he has me convinced.
Those hazel eyes that are magical stare down in mine with so many emotions. I can feel all of them. The determination, the passion, his fierceness and his love. What I can feel the most is his love that he has for me. It’s impossible to deny.
My fingers trace his now swollen lips. No doubt that mine are the same. Holding my wrist he kisses the pad of my fingers.
“And with that I will protect everyone you care about. Which is why I sent Oak to look after Gracie Mae and Connor,” he tells me.
My eyes go wide with shock. “You did?”
He nods his head. “Oak also convinced her to stay here with her brother.”
I throw my arms back around his neck and wrap my legs around his waist. His hands come to rest underneath my ass as he holds me to him.
Giving him a quick peck on the lips I praise, “You’re the best. I don’t know what I’ve done to deserve you.”
His lips quirk up in a smile. “Weren’t you the one who told me it’s not about what we deserve but what we choose?”
“You remembered.”
“I remember every word that you say. You’re the most important thing in my life. How could I forget anything that surrounds you?”
My heart swells and warmth spreads in my chest. “You are a romantic.”
“Only for you. Onlyeverfor you.”
And as he lays me down on the bed whispering sweet words in my ear he shows me just how much of a romantic he is.
After we get dressed we both enter the main area of the compound.
I’m actually surprised I can walk given all theactivitiesI’ve been fully participating in. I even joked to Reed how I wouldn’tbe able to walk for the next week and he playfully threw me over his shoulder with a slap to my ass.
The playful side of him is one of my favorites.
A low whistle followed by a salacious grin comes from Haven. Her dark hair is pushed back in a low ponytail with a few tendrils hanging loose. In a pair of black leggings and a loose fit tee she’s comfortable yet badass too. It’s in her eyes, a dull blue, that are always intimidating no matter the circumstance.
In the very short time that I have known her she exudes dominance. I have honestly never met any woman like her.
