"If two out of four found their True Mates… wait! Day was curious about this guy, Star—"
He snorted. "I probably shouldn’t tell you exactly who it was—"
"Come on, just tell me if Star’s contract was bought. We can figure out the rest!"
Nolan chuckled. "Alright, fine. All my clients’ contracts were bought. That much I can share, but no more details. I’m really excited about it, though. But enough about them—how are things going on your end?"
I hesitated, biting my lip before replying, "Not that it’s any of your business, but at this point, Day and I haven’t… slept together yet, so we don’t have a final confirmation. But there are some strong signs suggesting we might be another TM case." I couldn’t bring myself to say the full term aloud.
Storm made a sudden gasp. "Seriously? That would be wonderful! Though, honestly, I’m not entirely surprised. The moment I saw you with Day, it was like this golden energyflowing between you two. It’s hard to explain, but I just knew I had to set up your pairing."
"A golden energy? That sounds… odd."
He chuckled, his tone raspy. "I know. It doesn’t seem remotely logical, but I can’t help what I see. It’s like this golden glow on you two. Not everyone has that exact color, but it’s always bright and vivid. Anyway, what clues did you notice?"
"Well, for starters, I can sense what Day’s feeling—almost like I don’t even need to look at him to know his emotional state. I’ve never been great at reading people, but with him, it’s like there’s some strange quasi-telepathic link between us."
"Ah, that’s how it began for me too," Nolan said. "From the start, I felt like I could sense Damien’s emotions, even while on suppressants. There was also this bizarre pull toward him. You might not pick up on it as strongly since you’re already living together, but that pull becomes almost impossible to resist with True Mates."
"Does it also, uh, translate to… intimacy? If you don’t mind me asking. Like, an unusual ease in, well, getting aroused and, um, quick finishing?" I blurted out, struggling a bit.
He laughed lightly, also sounding a bit embarrassed. "Oh, definitely. It’s shockingly easy, even with minimal stimulation. And, of course, there’s the whole multiple orgasms thing—not exactly typical for me before."
"It hasn’t been like this since I was a teenager, and now, out of nowhere, it’s like a revelation."
"What about Allure? Are you both still on suppressants?"
"That’s actually another thing. I’ve been dragging my feet on starting mine, but Day forgot to take his pill the other day. And last night, we both thought we were picking up on some scent, really pleasant."
"That’s fantastic news! Honestly, Day should consider coming off suppressants entirely…"
"We’ve decided to give it a try—for one day, at least—to see how things progress."
Nolan let out a huff. "I’m so grateful you shared this with me. It’s not just professionally important—I truly want the best for Day. He deserves it. We didn’t have the best start, but I could sense there was a whole story behind his attitude."
"And there is, believe me. Okay, I’ll keep you updated if anything else happens. Oh, by the way, if you don’t mind me asking something personal… Is your True Mate a rose omega?"
Nolan went quiet for a moment. "I really shouldn’t disclose that—it’s a private matter."
"Of course, no need to answer. Day and I just got the impression because, well, you’re so tall, and we kinda suspect you’re a purple alpha, and I’ve read that rose omegas and purple alphas often end up as True Mates. Well, it may seem far-fetched, but—"
"To protect our privacy, I can neither confirm nor deny. Rose omegas face a lot of public interest and fetishization, so…"
"Absolutely, no need to explain. I was just curious because some theories suggest that folks with the most alien DNA might have certain… extra talents, so perhaps what you did wasn’t entirely unscientific."
Nolan laughed awkwardly. "I can’t say for sure, but I’ve heard that too. Who knows what kind of secrets are hiding in our genes?"
"Anyway, I’ll keep you posted. If it turns out we’re True Mates, you’ll be the first to know. I can’t imagine a better pairing than this!"
"That’s true. Best of luck—I’ll be waiting to hear from you!"
Feeling energized, I headed for a shower, then went to the kitchen to prepare breakfast for Day and me. Just as I finished, he came downstairs, towel-drying his hair. Our eyes met, and it felt like a spark passed between us. We both flushed red.
I told Day about my conversation with Storm Nolan, and I could see it hit him just as hard as it had hit me. At the same time, though, he seemed even more nervous.
He sat there for a while, chewing a piece of bacon I’d made for him. Finally, he said, "I’m happy these other guys found their matches, but I’m scared to let myself hope for a miracle like that. I’m forcing myself to hold back, honestly. I’ve decided to just wait until things are more certain."
I nodded in understanding, though the impatience was nearly boiling in me. "Makes sense. It’s better to wait—no point in celebrating too early."
