“You have to be close to me, and on top of that, I have to be bleeding. I can also wear a perfume, just in case.”
Tobias threw his hands up with exasperation. He strode away, like he was too exasperated to continue the conversation. Ren took his spot in front of me. I crossed my arms and quirked an eyebrow up at him.
“Cat.” I put my hand up to cover Ren’s mouth.
“I am going.”
Ren became scarily still.
I cleared my throat and eyed the door behind his too wide shoulder. Bastien stood next to it, watching, but he wouldn’t go against my wishes . . . except this had to do with my ‘safety’. Was that sound Ren gritting his teeth?
I lunged, managing to get a few feet from Ren. My feet kicked out into the air. Ren swung me to his chest and my back bounced against him. His arm around my stomach squeezed a breath from my chest. I kicked back and smacked his leg with my heel. My slippers went flying. His grip loosened, but he managed to get me to the bed, where Jax grabbed my arm, pinning it on the bed while Ren grappled with my kicks.
I aimed my free hand toward Jax, but Asher caught my wrist and forced me down. Using every inch of strength I had; I writhed to get free.
“She’s fucking strong.”
As much as I struggled, it only became harder as all three of them pinned me down while the other two watched.
“Bastien!” I cried. A glaze crossed his eyes, and he stepped forward, but just as abruptly, he stopped in place and shook his head.
God dammit, they were liking my thrashing around. I went limp suddenly. All the movement caused pressure in my chest. I’d not been breathing. I sucked in a breath and released it. Their scents smacked me across the face.
A hum sounding too much like a moan for my liking left my mouth. I clamped my lips together and glared over at a smirking Jax. A gentle touch grazed across my forehead. I rolled my head to the side and turned my glare on Asher.
“Are we about to fuck?” Asher grinned.
“In your dreams, you lying blood-sucker.”
“Oh, there is no doubt about that, Pet, if I could dream, you’d be the star.” He ran his fingertips along my jaw and down my neck. My heart jumped in answer to his touch.
I struggled to beat back my lust. I needed a distraction—now.
“Talking about dreams. I was wondering. Bastien, why can you go into my dreams? Compulsion doesn’t work on me andTobias can’t read my thoughts,” my words flowed so fast they ran together.
I caught Jax’s smirk. I scowled at him.
“What,” I snapped.
“You are terribly obvious, Love.”
I laughed nervously.
“To answer your question.” Bastien approached. “I cannot trap you as I did to Jax. I was able to slip into your dreams, but I could not control anything.”
Asher’s hand delved under the hem of my shirt, and he started to drag it upward. I pulled against Asher and Jax’s grip holding my arms down, but they didn’t budge.
My shirt bunched under my breasts, and he released the fabric. His hand slid down to the swell of my belly, his fingernails grazing against my skin. I breathed out, with a steady stream of air. My body was beginning to feel all tingle-y and alive.
I rolled my lips into my mouth and bit down.
“Catalina,” Tobias began. His soft, cajoling tone put me on edge. “You will not be coming.”
“Sure,” I said, laying on the sarcasm.
Asher chortled.
“You’re pushing it, Catalina,” Asher finally said, his tone rising and then falling like he was mocking me.
