Alessandro joins us. “If you hate it, we can revert it back. But know we will be moving into this side regardless. I’m not having you here alone while we’re back at our mansion. We should all be together.” The longing in his voice, a low murmur, is a far cry from the usual sharp, bossy tone he uses with me.
Unsure what to say, I look back at him, the silence heavy between us. I mean, I get it. It’s more practical this way than them taking shifts, but also, I wanted something that was mine.Something I did on my own. “Why didn’t you ask me what I wanted before doing all this work?”
“We wanted to surprise you,” Ricky says. “And we knew what decor you wanted; all I had to do was have a quick chat with Sloane.”
That’s how they knew what furniture I wanted. Tricky fuckers. “Or you didn’t want me to say no?” I raise a brow toward Alessandro, knowing he’s at the head of this operation. One night knowing his brother had me all to himself and he had them knocking down a damn wall and moving in.
He smirks back at me in that way that says he always gets what he wants. He casually takes off his jacket and hangs it on the back of one of the new dining chairs, before relaxing back into the recliner.
“You said you wanted an apartment in the city where we can all be together. I’m sure that was on your wish list, Red,” Geovani’s voice, laced with amusement, comes from behind me. I glance quickly over my shoulder, meeting his gaze and feeling like they’re all ganging up on me. Of course he’s here as well for this ambush.
I blink back at him, knowing those were my words. “I meant sometime in the future; I didn’t mean kick my neighbors out and knock down walls to make it happen.”
Ricky takes my hand in his. “You know we will move heaven and earth so you can have everything you want now, baby, you shouldn’t have to wait.”
“But…” I look between all of them, not sure what to say next. “But how did you get my landlord to agree to it?”
Alessandro’s smile broadens. “I am your landlord, princess.”
My mouth nearly hits the floor for the second time. “Of course you are.” I throw my hands up in the air. “Here I was thinking I’m doing this all alone for once and you lot still find a way to micromanage me. If anyone wants me, I will be inmyroom. If it’s still my room, that is.” I storm from the new apartment and into my original one, slamming my door once inside my bedroom and throwing myself down on my bed. Fuck.
I’m not even sure why I’m so upset about this. I don’t mind sharing a home. I actually enjoy their company, but I wish they’d communicate with me instead of blindsiding me with surprises.
After about ten minutes of me sulking alone, a light tap comes at the door, and I hear it open and close. Whoever thinks it’s a good idea to disturb me right now is braver than he should be. I’m ready for a fight.
“Who drew the short straw?” I mutter into my pillow.
I feel the bed dip beside me, and I know whoever it is just sat next to me. Brave man. “Temptress,” comes his low voice, and I know it’s Maddox. “We didn’t tell you because the boys thought it would be a fun surprise. This isn’t like before when they were keeping stuff from you.”
I sit up in a rush, pulling my knees to my chest so I don’t lash out like I want to. “But you can see how it would come across like that, right?” I snap.
His lips curve into a slight, almost mischievous smile. “I did warn them, but you know how Ricky and Alex can be once they get an idea in their heads. And when Geovani mentioned your dream for the future involved all of us, well, they wanted you to have that now. Why wait?”
I close my eyes, massaging my temple. Today has already been a lot. “All my life I have had people telling me how I have to do things, first my papa, then you lot. This place was something I was doing on my own.”
He pulls me onto his lap, and even though I’m still pissed at him, I snuggle into his warm chest. “It’s your place, temptress. If things don’t work out with us, it’s all yours, Alex bought it in your name.”
I sigh heavily, knowing I won’t win this fight because he’s right and this is what I wanted. We should be celebrating our big win today, not fighting.
“I hear you were successful this morning. Our town is without a mayor. You did that on your own, and we’re all in awe of you.” His eyes meet mine.
“You are?” I ask, surprised.
His other hand runs up my thigh. “You have no idea the power you have over us, temptress. We would all do anything for you. We just want you to be happy and have the life of your dreams because it’s what you deserve.” He cups my face, breathing in my hair before cuddling in closer to me, our lips meeting.
As we kiss, his hand slips under my skirt, and I melt into him further. This is what I need, an escape from all the chaos. He kisses me harder as he shoves my panties aside and pushes two thick fingers inside of me in one move.
A moan of pleasure slips past my lips as we kiss. I can feel his cock growing harder under me, and I’m already desperate to have him fill me up. I pull back just slightly. “Are the rest of them still out there waiting for you to tell them you have tamed the raging bitch?”
He chuckles, and it’s the best sound ever. Maddox never laughs. “No, Alex got a call from Enzo. He’s in damage control after what you did to his mayor. And Ricky went with him.” He moves his fingers leisurely in and out of me.
“So, it’s just you and Geovani?”
“What did you have in mind?” Geovani appears in the doorway, a little too eager to please.
“You’re such a creeper. Were you listening from outside the door, Geo?”
He doesn’t answer, just moves into the room, his eyes raking over us, me with Maddox’s hand still up my skirt.
