Warden leaned forward and his hands were pressedtogether. He didn’t look at anyone, and then he focused on Rosalie. Petal feltRosalie’s grip tighten, which could only mean one thing—her friend wasterrified.

“Daemon, your father, had a twin brother.”

“What?” Rosalie asked. “No, no, that cannot bepossible.”

“Fritz, the man in the hospital, figured it out.Diablo works for Don Stefano Napoli, but that is the extent of it.” Wardenturned his gaze toward Colt. “He is after you, son, and he’s after the club. Heis using the Evil Fuckers MC to exact revenge.”

“You’re kidding,” Colt said.

“How do you know?” Rosalie asked. “Mom never saidanything. I never met him.”

“Daemon’s blood is on record. I was wondering ifyou would consider a DNA test,” Warden said.

Petal couldn’t believe what she was hearing, butshe didn’t need Warden to fill in the blanks.

“No,” Rosalie said. “You’re not saying what Ithink you’re saying, are you?”

“Fritz believes your mother was the victim of bothmen.”

Rosalie shook her head. “No, you’ve got to bewrong.”

“Baby, I’ve got you.”

It had been a few months since Rosalie hadpanicked, but Petal knew what was coming. She started to pant, and her handshad gotten clammy.

“Rosalie, calm down,” Petal said. She didn’t thinkthe panic attack would be good for the baby, and she knew her friend wouldnever forgive herself if anything happened.

“That means … no, no, no, that means all thistime, she was having to … oh my God, I can’t. I can’t do this.”

Colt took over, pulling Rosalie into his arms andholding his wife. Petal continued to hold her hand, and she had to be strongfor her friend.

“If he’s coming after the club, it means no one issafe, right? What does that mean for the diner? We can’t just live in thisclubhouse, it is going to drive people insane,” Petal said, herself included.

“I’ve got to wait for Fritz to come out. Diabloseems to be laying low now—” Warden was stopped by the buzz of his cell phone. All their cell phones had been removed and Petal watched as he glanced down.

“What is it?” Kim asked.

Warden clicked the button and then another and sheknew he’d put it on speakerphone.

“I take it you heard mine and Deamon’s littlesecret.”

“Diablo,” Warden said.

“The one and only. I had hoped to make an entrancewith more pizazz, but I guess just finding out the truth is enough for now.”

“What do you want?”

There was a chuckle. “What do I want? I want mybrother back, but unless you can bring back the dead, I guess I’m going to haveto go for plan B, and trust me, I hate plan B.”

Warden didn’t say anything.

“So, for the death of my brother and the completedemolition of his clubhouse, I think it is only fair you pay the price in full, don’t you?” Diablo asked. “Oh, and if you’re curious as to who Rosalie’s fatheris … I’ll give you that little detail. She’s mine.”

Petal held onto Rosalie. This was all happening sofast. Daemon was a sick fuck, but she had a feeling, compared to his brother,he was an angel, which was terrifying.

“So, I think I am going to have a little fun. Yousee, you took my brother and his club, and now it’s fair for me to take fromyou. I’m going to start with your club. One by one, they are going to die. ButI am going to wait, because I know Rosalie is pregnant, I think it is only fairI take that brat as well. Start my own little family, one I know you will nottake away from me. You crossed the line, Warden, and now it’s time for you topay the price.”

With that, the line went dead.
