There was no way he would ever think of her as awhore, and he certainly didn’t like the thought of anyone else sharing her. Hedidn’t even want to think of Myth, Ox, Crow, any of the brothers getting nearher. He’d kill them all, and in that moment, he understood Daemon, just asmidge. The guy was a monster, and instead of taking his time to win Gabrielleor to even allow her to fall in love with him, he took what was not his. Theman had been crazy in love with her, in his own way.

Not that he was excusing the guy’s behavior. Theman was an evil fucker true to the core, and putting him down had been the bestthing for the club and the world. It was a lot safer place, that was for sure.

“Do you think I would just randomly sleep withmen?” Petal asked.

“No.”

“Do you think I’m easy to get into bed?”

“Fuck, no.”

“Then tell me how you and I are here, if we’re not… making this work?”

Dirty sat up, cupped her face, and stared into herbeautiful eyes. She was stunning, and he wanted her. So desperately.

And then, he kissed her hard. Sliding one of hishands back to sink into her hair as he took possession of her lips. He growledagainst her lips. This woman was his. All his, and he wasn’t going to let hergo. Not a second time. The first time was bad enough.

Petal suddenly pulled away. “This is not somedeal, is it? You haven’t agreed with Colt to keep me busy or doing a favor forWarden, or Kim, or Rosalie?”

“Fuck, no. I have learned my lesson. This is real. This is all me, and all us.”

Petal stroked his face. “Good, because I don’twant to be hurt like that again. I don’t want to be hurt ever again. Pleasedon’t hurt me.”

He saw the grief in her eyes. “Never. I will neverhurt you. I can’t guarantee I won’t piss you off along the way. You may evenwant to cut my balls off and feed them to the dog we’re going to get.”

Petal gasped. “We’re getting a dog?”

“I think it is only fair, and while we’re at it, Ithink it is time we looked for a place, don’t you?”

“I already have a place.”

“It belongs to Rosalie, and besides, we need tostart making memories, and if we’re living together, it means I can take you toschool and bring you back.”

“I have a car.”

“Yeah, but imagine it, your biker boyfriend takingyou home?” He winked at her. “Come on, that has to be some street cred orsomething?”

Petal giggled. “You’re insane, but I am not goingto lie, I do kind of like that. However, it is going to be night school. I’mnot going to sacrifice my time at the diner for school. I want to … invest inmy future.”

“Are you sure you want the diner?” he asked. “Iknow if there is something else you wanted, we could find anything for you.”

He’d do anything. Even buy whatever she needed orwanted.

Petal stroked his cheek. “No, I’m happy at thediner, and trust me, I didn’t think I was ever going to say those words andmean them. It’s cool. I love it there, and that’s where I want to stay.Besides, Rosalie was telling me that we are turning a profit, and much fasterthan you, Warden, and the guys were expecting.”

“We didn’t anticipate everyone has to eat.”

“And Burto is proving to be a much better chefthan Al ever was. It’s all good. Of course, having moments like this wherewe’re in some kind of lockdown doesn’t exactly help business.”

“It’s just temporary.”

“And what happens if nothing … happens? What areyou guys waiting for?”

Dirty paused. This was club business and hecouldn’t talk to her about that, not really. The truth was, they were layinglow, hoping for Fritz to come around so they had something to go on.

So far, they had nothing but the Evil Fuckers MCand a ghost going by the name Diablo, and that wasn’t even concrete. The onlyconnection they had to any of this was Fritz, and the man was in a coma. No oneknew when he was going to wake up. It was just a waiting game.

“With what happened to Fritz, and then Colt’splace, we can’t risk it. We unite, hold the fort, and then we attack.”
