A wordless protest escaped her lips when he lifted his head. “I know, sweetheart. I’ll come back for more kisses. Would you like to hold Hugo while I clean up the kitchen?”

“Yes, please.”

He set her gently on the cushion next to him and gave her another steamy kiss before tucking a blanket around her. Her Daddy returned in a flash with her hermit crab. She couldn’t wait to watch a movie held in his arms.

Chapter Nine

Waking up in Jack’s arms felt good. She didn’t remember anything past the unveiling of the vast library in the animated movie they’d watched.

I wonder if he’d build me a library?

Tatiana rolled her eyes at that thought. She didn’t have any books now. Those had all been left behind—well, except for the ones on her reader. She definitely hadn’t forgotten to take that with her.

“You’re thinking awfully hard over there. Don’t tell me you’re one of those instantly awake types,” he growled from a few inches away.

Her gaze flew up to meet his. He might sound grumpy, but his eyes were twinkling.

“I’m afraid so. You seem pretty awake,” she pointed out.

“I’m definitely one of those types, too,” he confirmed. His mouth swooped down to kiss her thoroughly until she scootched as close as possible.

“Oh!”

His hand pressed into the center of her lower back, holding her flush against him. She could feel his thick erection pressing against her stomach. Just the thought of that sliding inside hermade her needy. She clenched her thighs together as she felt herself getting wet.

“Could we…” The first two words squeaked out of her mouth before she could stop them.

“Could we make love?” he asked. “I’d like that, too. I don’t want to hurt you.”

Automatically, she moved her leg and winced when she bumped into his shin. “Sorry!”

“I have a feeling that hurt you more than me. Let’s see if we can find a position that doesn’t bang your foot into something. You on top doesn’t work now. How about this?”

He rolled forward, pushing her onto her back, and looped his arm under her injured leg so that it hung in mid-air behind him. She moved her lower leg experimentally and whacked into his back, sending shards of pain through her ankle. “Ouch!”

“I think we’re going to need to let you heal for a bit before we try anything athletic,” he said, comforting her with long strokes along her outer thigh and hip.

“This is so unfair. I’m sorry.”

“I’m not. Just because you can’t move without hurting yourself doesn’t mean we can’t get to know each other better.” Lowering his mouth to hers, Jack kissed her tenderly before deepening the kiss.

When he lifted his head, Tatiana shivered at the heat in his dark blue eyes. “Maybe if I don’t thrash around…”

“That’s a good idea.” He treated her to a trail of kisses down her neck to the top of the borrowed T-shirt.

Leaning back, he tossed the covers still draped over his lower body off the end of the bed before setting her cast gently on the mattress. He stretched out next to her and glided one hand along her thigh to the rucked-up hem of the cotton garment covering her. Leaning forward, Jack captured her mouth once again.

Paying attention to both the searing kisses and his caressing hand was a challenge. She loved all his attention. When he paused with his hand just below her breast, Tatiana weaved her fingers through his hair and pulled his head back.

“Touch me,” she requested urgently.

“Hmm. The demanding Little emerges. I’m not sure whether I should reward that behavior,” he teased, brushing her skin with his fingertips just shy of the under slope of one swell.

“Please.”

“So polite. I think that deserves a caress.” He shifted his hand higher to cup her and stroked his slightly rough thumb over her nipple.

Tatiana shivered in response and inhaled deeply, pressing herself into his palm. She loved the feel of his warm hand touching her. Holding her breath, she watched him lean forward and felt the cotton material glide across her sensitive skin, revealing her breasts to his view. He’d seen her before as he’d helped her bathe and dress. This was different. His gaze devoured her.
