It’s then I realize that my head is resting on histhigh.

I finally found myself in this man’s lap and someone had to go and ruin it by shooting me.Go fucking figure,I grumble.

We’re safely behind the counter, but that doesn’t stop the sounds coming from the other side. The grunting and slapping blows of hand-to-hand combat, the sounds of breaking glass, chairs screeching across the floor and tables being knocked over. Someone screams and my heart beats faster. I need to see what is happening, need to know that Sebastian is okay.

And then I hear it.

Two more shots ring out, followed by the unmistakable sound of bodies crumpling to the floor. My own goes rigid as the room falls silent and I can feel Luke’s strong muscular body roll on top of me, covering me like a human shield.

I’macutelyaware of every inch our bodies touch. How his large hand caresses the back of my head, the feel of his chiseled muscles as they flex with every movement, how his hips are pressed into mine, pinning me to the floor.

I stare up at him, his gaze and his weapon never wavering from the spot where someone would have to walk around the counter.

“Cover your ears,” he whispers without looking down. I do as he says, realizing how close that gun is.

I hear footsteps approaching and my eyes stay fixed on the hard lines of Luke’s face. His eyes narrow and the muscles in his jaw flex.

Then, he lets out a breath I didn’t realize he was holding and his face immediately relaxes. He hangs his head in relief, looking down at me, offering me a smallgrin.

I crane my neck to look up and find an even deeper shade of blue staring down at me.

Sebastian is standing there, breathing heavily from the exertion, his hair is disheveled and sexy as fuck. He runs a hand through it quickly and I gape at the sight of him.

A small smile tugs at his lips.

“You two ready to get he fuck out of here? Or do you need a minute,” he says coyly, his smile widening as he turns his head sideways to get a better look at the position our bodies are in. He gives us a look that seems…approvingthen bites his lower lip, releasing it slowly. My breath hitches at the subtle motion and I can’t help but notice Luke’s reaction. And byreaction, I mean the unmistakable twitch of hisimpressivelength as it presses into my belly through our clothes.

I kinda wish Iwasn’twearing clothes right now.

Luke helps me to my feet and the sharp pain in my side returns, then Sebastian hauls me up into his arms as if I weigh absolutely nothing. I stare at him wide-eyed, but he’s not even looking at me. We’re already moving.

As the three of us head for the back door, something registers in my mind.

Am I being kidnapped?

Chapter Three

LEENA

“One of you better explain what the fuck is happening. Where are we going?” I say with not nearly as much volume or anger as I was going for.

I am laying across the back seat of the Suburban right where Sebastian put me, clutching at the bloodied rag against my side. I haven’t found the courage to actuallylookat the wound yet, but I’m not dead, so I guess that’s a good sign.

“Settle down, sweetheart, you’re safe with us,” Sebastian says nonchalantly from the driver’s seat. I watch as Luke pulls out his cell phone and starts speaking quickly, his voice inaudible over the sound of screeching tires and car horns as they protest our vehicle’s recklessness. Sebastian’s large, strong hands grip the steering wheel, expertly taking turns at a dizzying pace.I think I’m going to be sick,I think nauseously, then manage to push myself into a sitting position to buckle my seatbelt.

“ThehellI am. And don’t call mesweetheart,” I mutter. Both men ignore me as we turn again, this time down a one-way street. Up ahead, another vehicle barrelsonto the roadway facing us.

“Fuck!” Sebastian scoffs.

“Keep going, next ally on your right,” Luke directs, staring at his phone as Sebastian stomps on the gas. My eyes bulge as we approach the oncoming vehicle at a dangerous speed. Sebastian taps on the steering wheel, as if counting out the seconds. Then he pulls to the right and we careen down the narrow space between two buildings, barely avoiding the head-on collision.

“What the fuck is going on!” I screech, but they ignore me,again.

For several minutes, Sebastian concentrates on the road, shaking off every vehicle tailing us, while Luke quickly directs him from the passenger’s seat.

Luke’s voice seems calm, I realize.

Glancing at Sebastian, I notice he’s calm too. Which means they’re used to this sort of…thing.
