“Have you shared a girl before?” I blushed wildly at the implication.

Ace smiled softly and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear. “Never. I have never shared a girl with anyone, nor have I wanted to. It’s different with you, Viv. I can’t explain it properly. But when we first came upon you, I knew that you were ours.”

I stayed in his arms for a long while until Brendon re-entered the room. He paused when he came across us standing in the middle of the floor.

“Is everything okay?”

His deep voice had my body on alert. I moved out of Ace’s arms and went into Brendon's.

Ace answered for me, “Francine was trying to stir up trouble. Do you have any news?”

Brendon nodded and tipped my chin up with his thumb, “King Cian insists on having a worldwide search for your parentage.”

I felt the color drain from my face, “We know who my parents are.”

Brendon tipped his head to the side, “You said yourself that Bill and Susan adopted you. Cian thinks that there is a conspiracy hidden, and he might be right. We will be working more closely with him to try and locate your birth parents. If we are able to spend more time together, we will have the access we need to...”

Ace pretended to take a stake to the heart. As much as I knew he was trying to lighten the mood, I couldn’t help the sense of foreboding that shrouded us.

“When is this great search to take place?” I asked hollowly.

Brendon caressed my cheek, “There is much they can do just studying your DNA. The normals have those kits that everyone is crazy about. Well, it’s actually been very helpful for us as well. There is an entire other side to the DNA testing that links vampire lines and can even tell how much pure blood is in your veins.”

“Pureblood?” I repeated, “I thought our blood was the same as anyone?”

Ace shook his head, “He’s talking about your ancestral line. There are noble houses that you might descend from. Brendon obviously has a higher percentage, it’s something like 98%, whereas I am a mutt, and come in about 52%.

Brendon rolled his eyes. “Ace exaggerates, I am only 94%.”

I blinked. “You have 94% pure royal blood?”

Brendon nodded. “Cian, of course, has a higher concentration at 99%. There is no one alive with a higher percentage, and therefore he is king.”
