Page 55 of Magic and Mayhem

A man who looks like Kieres strides into the room, not put off at all by the fact that Eryx and I aren’t wearing clothes. Eryx waves his hand over us, and a pair of gray sweats appear on his demon form before a baggy hoodie and pants appear on me.

I can smell him on the clothes, and I pull up the neck of the hoodie to breathe him in as he gets all growly with who I can only assume to be Zavian.

“Get out,” Eryx barks, but Zavian is already tossing himself down on the large sofa by our collection of books.

“Nah, man. I think it’s time I meet her. You already bonded with her and shit.”

Eryx pinches the bridge of his nose before turning to me.

“You’re not actually cousins, but the Oni twins are connected on a soul level with your ancestors. All witches need a binder for their magic, and these two were your coven’s binder.”

Zavian grins like a madman, and I decide these big revelations no longer shock me. That’s what I think Zavian wants, to make me feel confused.

So instead, I play his game, already loving the idea ofgetting to mess with him.

A strange sort of sibling rivalry hangs in the air between us, and I have this urge to play tricks on him. It almost makes me laugh as I walk right over to the couch and sit beside him, propping my arm on the back of the couch so I can face him.

“I’m Evolet.”

He stares deep into my eyes before one of his lips lifts and he chuckles. “I heard you stopped the eternal ride.”

I shrug, thinking back to Kieres’ shock with the carousel and wanting to internally slap Eryx for not explaining this shit sooner.

In fact, I reach out with my fire and imagine it slapping his ass and burning just a bit. Eryx yelps before turning to glare at me, and I can’t help the giggle that escapes my lips.

Eternity with him is going to be a lot of fun.

“We will be talking about that later, my little mate.”

Covering my mouth, I watch Zavian putting the pieces together before he shakes his head.

“What’s the big deal about stopping the carousel?” I ask, looking between them both as Eryx brings me a cup of tea and sits at my back.

“Well,” Zavian leans in conspiratorially and clears his throat, “some say it’s the beginning of theprophecy.”

Epilogue

Onyx is kneeling in front of me, bending to kiss my boot when I feel it. The power washes through me like a tidal wave. And if it weren’t for Rogue being at my back, it surely would have knocked me off my feet.

They all freeze when they sense the change, the ownership of this realm belonging to us.

Dear old daddy didn’t realize that when he created this realm to banish us to, he tied me to it, and now my power swells when souls are consumed here too.

He could sense a shift in power, but thought it was the potential of a mate bond taking shape in our realm. Thankfully, he didn’t put together that it was from us performing extra shows and taking souls for ourselves.

At first, I played his game and allowed him to think that this was a punishment, but he plays right into my hand every time.

He thinks I’m this whipped puppy and that my mateshave to take care of me in order for me to function. While they do keep my insanity at bay, a sickness that has been plaguing me since we arrived here,Iam the one who rules this realm.

The magic in my veins pulsates with the need to be used. I reel it in, knowing if I let a single drop of it loose, Lucifer will be back, and he might find a way to actually lock us here and strip me of my hold over the carnival.

“Did he do it?” Ruhn asks, brushing a finger down my arm before joining Onyx in kneeling at my feet.

They wanted to worship me tonight, to be collared and dragged on a leash while I praised them for helping me craft this plan to take down my father.

“He did,” I breathe out in relief as arousal floods my senses.

Chaos opens the back door and strides in with everyone’s collars in his hand. Giving them to me, he joins the others at my feet and Rogue follows suit.
