As he slipped back in, he was grateful for having a baby who he didn’t need to explain anything to. He and Natalie could be as open as they wanted to be, and he was ready to be open. He was ready to let everyone know Natalie was his girl, but he needed to check in to see where she was with that before proceeding further.

As he settled in his bed, resting his back against the headboard, Natalie stirred next to him. Winnie was contently taking her bottle as Natalie’s eyes blinked open, and Sven wasn’t sure he had ever felt more at peace than he did in this moment in bed with his two girls.

“Good morning, beautiful,” he said, gazing down at her.

She yawned and smiled back at him. “Good morning,” she said before sitting up. “And good morning to you, Winnie-Bell.”

Natalie settled in bed next to Sven and brushed Winnie’s head. Winnie’s eyes found her and gave a milky smile before sucking her bottle again.

“This is perfect,” Sven said before kissing Natalie’s head.

Sven’s phone buzzed next to him, and he was still tempted to throw it in the pool, but with everything in the air with Stacie, he checked it.

Tillie: Spring break is next week. Can I come visit you and Winnie for a few days?

Sven smiled. The one important woman missing from this bed was going to come for a visit... not that she belonged in the bed, but that’s beside the point. He would soon be surrounded by the most important people in his life, and everything felt right.

Sven: You can visit anytime. I need to check my game schedule, but you can always stay here.

“I think my sister is going to come visit. Her spring break is soon.”

“Oh, that’ll be nice. I look forward to meeting her.”

“You know what I want?” she asked. “I want a donut and a vanilla latte... But I say let’s not get out of this bed all day.”

With Sven’s phone still in his hand, he ordered. “Done.”

“What’s done?”

“Donuts and coffee.”

“Are you serious?”

“Why would I lie about donuts and coffee?”

“I don’t know. I just don’t think I’ve ever thought to order breakfast before.”

“Natalie,” he said, shaking his head. “In this day and age, anything can be delivered.”

“You’re committed to spending a day in the bed, aren’t you?”

“I am... I really am,” he said, bending his head and kissing her. “I mean, it is a rest day, and I take that very seriously.”

“Mm-hmm,” Natalie hummed, leaning against him. “I can’t say I mind, but I do want to go wash my face and change clothes.”

“Natalie, I know we said we wanted this to go slow, but I want you to know I’m in this.”

She took a slow breath and looked down before putting her hand on his leg. It was taking her too long to respond, and Sven was fighting the response to take those words back. But even if he could, that was how he felt.

“I am, too,” she said before wrapping her arm under his and snuggling into his side, resting her head on his shoulder. “I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little bit scared about what that means, but for some reason, I just can’t seem to get enough of your cocky-ass.”

They relaxed in the bed, enjoying each other, and Winnie finished her bottle before there was a ring from the bell downstairs.

“I bet that’s the donuts and coffee,” Sven said as she moved out of bed.

“I’m going to go get dressed and wash my face, then I’ll meet you back here,” Natalie said.

They made their way downstairs. At the door, Natalie smacked Sven’s ass as she turned the corner to head into the living room. He turned as she smirked over her shoulder. As he turned to get the box of donuts and coffee, that is not what he found.
