“Whenever you want.”

His chuckle is dark and sends frissons of excitement coursing through my body, which has his nostrils flaring. “You’re killing me right now.”

“I promise I’m not trying to do that, especially since we managed to find each other,” I reply. “So, maybe you should go, Fox, before we push things further than you want to since we’re in my home, not your…ourden,” I say, hastily correcting myself when I see his raised brow.

He leans in and presses a close-mouthed kiss to my lips then turns and walks away. “I’ll text you the address for the clubhouse,” he says.

“That works for me.”

Once I assure myself that he’s gone, I go into the app on my phone and lock everything up then set the alarm. Granted, since I’m up in my apartment, if someonedidbreak in, I’d be a sitting duck. The only thing that keeps me from being afraid is the fact that anyone who tried to come upstairs to harm me would be meeting my wolf’s claws and sharp, pointy teeth.

And she doesn’t play games when it comes to our safety. Time and again, she’s proven that she has our wellbeing at the forefront of her mind, especially when we fled our pack of origin.

“Time for bed, I guess,” I murmur, closing and locking the apartment door. I straighten the living room, wipe down the kitchen, then head into the bathroom to take my nightly shower.

Once I settle into bed, I allow myself to think about the night I had with Fox. I knew I had a mate out there somewhere, I just never expected to find him in Zephyr Hills. As I drift off to sleep thinking of him, I set a mental note to call Angie to see when she’s gonna arrive.

Chapter Five

Fox

“So, who’s the shifter you were with?” Stealth asks as I walk over to the bar. At my look, he shrugs. “I can smell her all over you.”

“My mate,” I growl out, taking the beer that Teeny hands me.

“Really? That’s great, Fox,” Stealth replies, slapping me on the back. “Think she’ll like the girls?”

I chuckle as I think about Tressa, Nini, and Vivi in the same space. “Yeah, I suspect the three of them will become good friends.”

“Wonder if she likes to read?” he muses. “Another of those MMM signings is coming up and even though they’re both pregnant, they plan to attend. If she does, she can go with them since it’ll be easier for us to keep an eye on all three of them.”

I shudder when I remember the hell we went through when Tressa went. The poor woman got kidnapped, then Chaos practically lost his mind and went completely off the rails once he tracked her to where they were keeping her. I’m not easily grossed out at all but seeing the remnants of the men who dared to touch Tressa makes horror films look like a Saturday morning cartoon.

“Hopefully, we don’t have the drama we had the last time,” I remark, causing him to shudder as well.

“Yeah, because I know me and Chaos are both on a short leash where our tempers are concerned. I don’t understand it, either, because neither one of us typically jump the gun where anything’s concerned. It’s one of the reasons y’all voted us into these positions.”

“I suspect that when there’s a mate involved, all bets are off,” I reply. I mean, I can’t lie, I’d have eviscerated the fucker who dared to touch my mate as well. Still gruesome as fuck.

“I told her I’d send her the address to the clubhouse,” I tell him, taking a long pull off my beer.

He chuckles then says, “I get wanting her in your own den, brother.”

“That’s precisely it. I never anticipated finding my mate, Stealth. Yet, already, I can picture her, Tressa, and Nini getting this place in tip-top shape. Not that the girls haven’t already done a great job with it, but Vivi’s different. I suspect she’ll bring the calm to their calamity.”

He laughs so hard that Chaos comes walking over and slaps the back of his head. “My mate’s sleeping, fucker.”

“As if she can hear through the soundproofing we all have in our suites, asshole,” Stealth retorts, smacking him back. “Fox found his mate in town today.”

Chaos’s eyes grow wide, and he drops onto a stool, motioning for a beer. After he takes his own long pull from the bottle and wipes the froth from his mouth, he asks, “You did? You weren’t gone that long.”

“She happens to own the apothecary where I found the stuff for the girls,” I reply.

“Hurry up and complete the bond before she finds out how you really are,” Stealth advises.

“You know mates don’t care, fucker, otherwise, Nini would’ve gone back to where she and Tressa used to live,” Chaos says.

“Nonna will like that there’s another mate running around here,” Stealth adds. At Chaos’s look he asks, “What? You know she’s thrilled about all the changes that have occurred around the clubhouse. Even the club girls are behaving these days.”
