“Piss weak.” I shook my head.

“This is too easy,” Aaliyah murmured. “He wants us to break the curse. That bastard’s got another surprise in store for us.”

Exactly what I worried about after Colton’s cryptic threat. “Reckon he rigged the tomb with magical traps?”

Zethan didn’t take any chances and carried her away from the tomb.

Suspicious of magical explosives or other hidden traps, I sent out feelers and didn’t find anything. Confident that it was safe but vigilant in case, I backed away and opened the ancient tomb from a distance. The stone gave way with a long creak and scraped along the sand. Wind generated with my magick carried away the stale air, and I let it circulate through the tomb, waiting several moments until my senses told me it was well oxygenated and clear.

“Sorceress, scan inside with me.” I guided more sensors into the tomb, scanning for magical tripwires and traps. “Anything?”

Aaliyah finished her scan and glanced over her shoulder at me. “Nope.”

Zethan cupped the back of her head and pressed it to his chest.

“Come on, Hellhound Dick. Let me down. I want to see the tomb.” She wriggled, and he finally released her.

The moment she moved closer to me, he snatched her hand and jerked her back. “Neither of you are going in there. What ifhecloses the door and locks you inside?”

Precautions put in place would prevent that. I resented his lack of faith in me. Nothing I didn’t deserve for my earlier duck up. I let him have his moment to swing his dick in the wind.

Taking that chance, Aaliyah sidled up beside me. “Put your dick back in your pants, Zethan.” Ouch. Full name. Balls singed. I didn’t need to say a thing. She turned to me. “Can we do this with magick, Daddy?”

Worth a try. Safety was paramount after Colton’s cheap threat for more tricks.

I waved a hand up and down my torso. “Avatar of magick. I’m up for a challenge if you are.”

Grinning, she nudged me with her shoulder. “Queen of magick.”

I spanked her ass for the sass and topping me. “Show me what you’re made of, my queen.”

Zethan came up behind her, cinching his arms around her. “Are you strong enough, Hellhound Bitch? After your healing?”

“I’m fine.” She rolled her shoulders with determination etched in her features. “Let’s do this.”

I had no qualms that she could do this, tired or not from healing the three of us.

Zethan kissed her neck with the urgency of a man who feared he might never see her again. “At the first sign of exhaustion, I’m pulling you back, baby.”

“Okay.” Aaliyah rubbed his forearms to satisfy his concerns.

“Ready, Sorceress?” At my question, she nodded, imitating my moves, propelling her magick into the tomb with me.

I ran magical fingers over the hieroglyphs, interpreting the cartouches detailing the buried occupant. “Here lies Baska, priest of Anubis,” I read aloud. “Server of justice to my beloved master.”

I glanced at Aaliyah, and she rolled her eyes, echoing my thoughts.

“For the sin of cheating on his wife,” I went on, “Osiris shall be cursed to live apart from the mother Isis.”

Fanatic. Records from many a priest showed they took their jobs way too seriously. There was a way to serve the gods, and then there was madness.

My magick dipped and found the edge of the sarcophagus. “Want to do the honors, Sorceress?” Ladies first. Doors. Cars. Pleasure.

“Hell, no. We’re making history together.” She clasped my hand and squeezed. “First magical tomb robbers.”

This woman was perfect for me. “This is why I fucking love you, Sorceress.” I brought her into my arms for a proud kiss before nudging her back to my side.

Together we tugged at the lid, budging it slightly, putting more force behind it until it gave. Taking care not to drop the heavy stone lid, we settled it to lean on the edge of the sarcophagus. Further probing into the tomb located two canopic jars.
