The desire faded as quickly as it had come, leaving me frustrated and back at square one. Screw it. I threw my phone down on the mattress and tucked my dick back in my boxers before pulling up my sweats. My head hit the pillow with a frustrated huff of air falling from my lips.
The guys took that time to approach, taking up the spot at the foot of my bed. Jamie had his phone in hand, his eyes flashingwith something furious as he scrolled. When he found what he was looking for, he handed me the phone.
I gave him a quizzical look, not sure why he was so concerned with a random ass video on the school page.
“Hit play, dickhead.”
I obeyed, squinting as the video finally focused on the couple standing near some building. The girl was holding a condom in her hand. A few words were exchanged between them, but their voices were muffled due to the distance. In no time, the guy who I immediately recognized as Lucas after a few moments, turned her, hoisting her up against the side of the building before pounding into her. Everleigh’s head fell back, a pink tint coating her pale skin. Despite Lucas not seeming to know how to fuck, she had a similar expression on her face that she’d had when I fucked her. She liked it hard and rough. Or at least…she used to. Lucas was fucking her like he didn’t want to break her.
My hand tightened around the device, my eyes narrowing on the couple displayed within the screen.
Sucking in a deep breath, I handed the phone back to Jamie. “This could work in our favor.” Ignoring the slice of pain that shot through my chest, I sat up, positioning my back against the headboard.
I needed to pull my shit together. There was absolutely no reason Everleigh should have any effect whatsoever on my heart. She was the first girl I loved—the only girl I’d loved—so, maybe that was why. My body hadn’t caught up to my mind just yet. It didn’t make seeing her in that video any easier, though. The way she clung to him like a lifeline, pulling him closer to her while her lips parted on a silent moan. She didn’t deserve to feel good. She didn’t deserve happiness.
Kash’s words were the ones that sliced through my thoughts. “How exactly would this work in our favor?” His lips were pulled into a thoughtful frown.
I didn’t miss the way they’d both rushed in here like their asses were on fire, like they were equally as pissed as I was. I’d expected nothing less from Jameson. He’d been fucking in love with her, which I didn’t realize until months before Everleigh’s betrayal. I had noticed Kash and Everleigh getting a little closer before everything went to shit, but nothing that raised alarm bells. Had I known Jamie would fall for her, I never would have agreed to sharing her. Her heart was mine. Back then at least.
“Because.” I sighed. “Hundreds of people have seen that video. It’ll be the talk of the school for the next week or two.”
I wish I knew who had posted it so I could give them a proper thanks. They were doing part of the work for me.
Jameson’s eyes found mine and he shifted uncomfortably, his shoulders coiled tight with tension. “Maybe,” he agreed. “Are you planning on saying anything to Lucas, about what she did?”
A small smile graced my lips, a fire of determination sparking deep inside of me, flooding through my entire being until red was the only thing I saw. “I have something better planned for that asshole. He’ll never believe what happened without evidence. Eve could easily turn around and lie about it.”
This caught Kash’s attention. “What do you have planned?”
“Yeah,” Jameson added. “It’s not like we have evidence against her.”
I wasn’t ready to tell them everything just yet. They were the two people I trusted more than anything in the world, but lately, Jamie was a loose cannon, and he couldn’t be trusted not to fuck this up. “I have two options we could go with,” I supplied vaguely. “Either find a way to prove that Everleigh is indeed a conniving little slut, or blackmail her in some way to ensure she was completely at our mercy.”
Kash snorted, drawing my gaze to him. “The last time I called her a slut, you punched me in the face.” His smile faded as hiseyes grew distant, like he was reliving a memory he didn’t want to even think about.
That was around the time they started becoming friendlier with each other. Not in the way Jameson had been with her, but different. It made me wonder…had something happened between them after that night?
“Yeah,” I muttered. “Well, it turns out you were right.”
After I broke up with Everleigh, she was all I could think about. Her betrayal had scarred me from the inside out until revenge was the only thing left on my mind. Now, it was right at my fingertips, handed to me on a silver platter. Warmth spread through my veins, heating my blood with it. She would pay for what she put me through—what she putusthrough. I’d make sure of it. She didn’t get to live happily ever after. I intended on taking everything from her, ruining her life so thoroughly that she had nowhere else to run to.
Just one step at a fucking time.
My mother’s arms wound around me as she pulled me tightly against her. The scent of her lavender perfume invaded my nostrils and caused my eyes to water. I haven’t gotten to spend much time with her. Not since moving states and returning as I had. It felt weird being back in this house. Too many damn memories. Too many damn betrayals. She pulled away, keeping her hands on my shoulders while peering up at me with admiration.
She still looked the same as she had when I came to visit a few months ago. Put together with not a strand of hair out ofplace. Her dark hair sat in a low bun at the nape of her neck, pulled tightly, to give it a sleek appearance. She was wearing a light blue shirt, paired with some white dress pants and a beige cardigan.
“I’ve missed you so much,” she gushed. She turned to my father who had just stepped foot in the living room, buttoning one of his many suits. I couldn’t even remember what the man looked like in casual attire. Even when he wasn’t working, he was dressed up. “Your father and I have been talking. We think, with both of you boys living back in Brookhaven, that we should start doing weekly dinners as a family.”
I couldn’t help it. My entire posture went rigid at the mention of my brother. I’d left because of him. Because I couldn’t stand being anywhere near him. He had access to this home, to come and go as he pleased. I haven’t spoken to him since he fucked my girlfriend, saw her naked. My breathing labored at that reminder, heat spreading through my veins like molten lava.
Father nodded in agreement. “You’ll both be working alongside me as soon as you graduate,” he informed. I was supposed to intern for him as soon as I graduated but I’d moved out on a whim and left the city.
I wasn’t ready to see him. To see his happy little marriage.
“Have you spoken to your brother recently?” Mom asked softly, sensing my change in posture. Her soft hands spread over my chest, which I think was supposed to be meant as a soothing gesture.
“No.”
