I know why. And I’m not at all surprised. To him, there was never anyone but Lilly. And while I felt that in my heart and soul, I never expected to ever have a chance with her. If I knew I’d be where I am with her now, I would have waited. It might be one of my biggest regrets. But it’s not something I can change.
He chuckles, rubbing his hands up and down her thighs. “You would need to have sex for condoms. And seeing how I’ve never had it, I didn’t need them.”
Her hands pause as she blinks rapidly. “W-what do you mean?”
“What I mean is, the only person I’ve had sex with is you, Lilly,” he confesses.
“No.” She shakes her head in disbelief. “I saw you. At the party a few months ago.”
His face darkens. “That was something I’m not proud of,” he grunts. “Something I regret. I’ve received...” he clears his throat. “You know. In the past. But that’s it.”
“So... I was your first?” she asks, eyes flicking between his.
“Yes, baby,” he murmurs, leaning down to press a kiss to each of her thighs. “My first, but also my only.”
She bites her lower lip, tears shimmering in her eyes.
I feel like I’m intruding by watching, but I can’t seem to look away or bring myself to leave.
What we have with Lilly is different for each of us. But it doesn’t make it any less real or powerful.
Toby is like a brother to me. I want him to be happy and healthy. Lilly is good for him. She makes him want to be a better man.
She makesmewant to be a better man.
I can do this. I can share her with him. I just hope he’s able to do the same. Because the idea of this girl hurting more than she already has in the past makes me want to rip the world apart.
“I’m gonna sound like a baby for saying this, but that makes me really happy,” her voice cracks as the words leave her mouth.
Toby wraps his arms around her and pulls her into the water.
She goes willingly, clinging to him like a koala bear.
Placing his hand on the back of her head, he holds her to him as he murmurs things into her ear.
I see her nod a few times before whispering back.
“I’ll give you some time alone.” Getting up, I’m halfway to the pool house before Toby speaks.
“Stay,” he grunts.
I stop, turning around to look at him. “Are you sure? I don’t mind.”
He sighs heavily. “I’ll get my time alone with her soon,” he says, giving me a pointed look. “So stay, swim.”
Excitement perks up inside me. “Okay.”
“Oh fuck,” Toby hisses, eyes going wide when he sees me run towards the pool.
Laughing loudly as I run, I jump and scream, “Cannonball!” before plummeting into the water.
Lilly’s scream sounds muffled through the water. When I break the top, she’s laughing loudly, a bright smile on her face.
Smoothing my hair back, I wipe the water out of my eyes before I start to stalk towards her.
Her eyes widen. “No,” she squeals, moving to get behind Toby. “Save me!” She laughs harder.
“No one can save you now,” I say in an evil villain's voice.
