I laughed. “A little. Why is it your favorite?”
He guided my head to his shoulder and simply held me for a moment before he had to stab my finger. “Because I like having someone to love.”
I stiffened. “Did you just say?—”
“Yeah, I did, honeybee.” Logan kissed my temple. “So thank you for giving me two people to love. And thank you for being my friend.”
I sniffed. “We love you too.”

LOGAN
Leah let out a heavy breath as she hunched over, rested her forearms on the kitchen counter, and closed her eyes.
“Take a break,” I called from the spare room that was slowly becoming my office. I had the door propped open, giving me a catty-cornered view of Leah in the kitchen.
The room was still mostly bare, but I didn’t mind. I had gotten the Wi-Fi set up this morning, which meant I could keep an eye on her while I worked.
The proximity made my stress level drop significantly. If something happened, I was right here. But watching her hips swing all damn day while she turned our beach cottage into a home was really fucking inconvenient, because my libido was through the roof.
“I’m fine,” she called back.
“Could’ve fooled me,” I said as I pushed out of the desk chair I had stolen from my room at Kristin’s house to go with the desk Leah had picked out at a second-hand shop.
She sighed. “He’s just...really heavy today. I’m so uncomfortable all the freaking time.”
I came up behind her and smoothed my hand up and down her back as she breathed.
Leah hadn’t been sleeping well. She was at the point where, whenever she needed to roll over at night, she had to fully wake up and three-point-turn to her other side.
I wished that I could ease the physical side of pregnancy for her, but I couldn’t. And saying that I wished I could, would only drive the nail in harder.
Instead of giving useless platitudes, I wrapped my arms around the base of her belly and lifted just enough to ease the pressure and weight off of her body.
Leah let out a deep breath. “Oh my god. Thank you.”
“Does it help?” I murmured against the back of her neck as I peppered her skin with light pecks.
She nodded. “So much.”
“Why don’t you go lie down?” I kissed around the shell of her ear as the baby tumbled against my hands.
It was still so bizarre to feel him moving around in there, but each time I felt him kick or shift, I got more excited for the day we’d meet.
She shook her head. “I want to get the rest of my books unpacked. I just need a minute.”
“You’ve been going too hard. You’re off work. Ergo, you’re supposed to relax.”
“I just need to?—”
“What if I told you I had a surprise for you?” I said.
She cocked her head. “What kind of surprise?”
“The kind that comes in a gift bag with tissue paper.”
“But it’s not Christmas yet,” she argued.
