In reality, we still felt awful, but if you couldn't see the bright side—which was humor for us—then you might as well be dead. Victoria, hooked her thumb toward the kitchen. "I'm going to check on the snacks in the oven and see if they're almost ready. Do either of you need another beer?"
"I wouldn't mind one, if you're offering," Kage responded now that his had less than a sip left. He wouldn't make her feel like a housewife, so I liked how he worded his reply.
"Yes, Alpha." So did our girl, biting her lip before walking her large ass to the kitchen. Our eyes trained on the bounce of it with each of her steps, and I knew she strutted a certain way to make it move a little more to entice us under that skirt.
"Alpha, huh?" I sipped my own beer with a grin.
"Funny, Daddy," he returned with his own. We were so fucked that this little devil came in like a Tasmanian one and spun us like a whirlwind to wrap around her finger. She didn't do anything other than be her clumsy and cute self, but it was her authenticity that left me questioning my life choices now.She stood in the kitchen where I couldn't see, but my eyes hadn't left the opening to catch a glimpse.
“I'm going to cook some bacon. Do you guys want some?” Victoria asked, shouting to reach us in the other room.
“Love some!” I returned before my sister's cat jumped onto my lap, demanding I pet her. Victoria kept loving on the fur ball, saying she needed another pussy in the house to not feel outnumbered, but she made it clear she meant a cat because she didn't share. We'd have to look into getting a kitty, but I remembered why we didn't have one when Kage slid away from me with a sneeze. Plus, I couldn't allow my mind to think of more. Tomorrow evening, she'd be going back to her life.
A clanking sound hit my ears. Her hands must have been fishing in the cabinet to pull out a frying pan, and I internally winced at the memory of the last time she handled one. Kage leaned over to me with a new smirk on his face already nearly laughing. “How long do you think it will take her to remember that she's supposed to bring me a beer?”
The fridge opened and shut as we listened to her begin to hum. My eyes stayed on the opening in question too now that a commercial came on. It made me wonder if he would have to go in there and get his own beer, but I knew he would wait for her to remember. Victoria's mind could be very sharp especially with numbers, but there was also an edge to her that made me question if she had ADHD. The bacon started sizzling, cooking for five minutes, and that's when we heard her nearly shriek and gasp, “Oh, shit!”
The fridge opened again. This time, Victoria came barreling into the living room with the beer and bottle opener. She kept trying to line up the opener against the cap as she ran, but she couldn't quite get it. God, she was so cute.
“I'm so sorry! I almost forgot.” She kept working her hands and fumbling because she felt a nervousness every time guilt found her.
Kage's hands went over hers and steadied her grip, offering some of his own strength to help pop the lid off. He took the beer from her with a smile unlike any I'd ever seen on his face. He, just like me and Leo, became wrapped around her tiny finger. “Good girl.”
Victoria always preened the moment we said those two words to her. She felt so special, and she had every right to. She literally had three men fumbling over themselves to please her, andshe returned the same attentiveness to all of us. Right before she drifted off into her listless imagination and devious sexual fantasies from hearing her favorite words, another worry hit her face.
“Fuck, the bacon!” She darted back to the kitchen as we snickered on the couch. The game came back on, so we fixated on that, hearing her bustle in the background like a calming white noise. Her little humming sounds and clatters had become that for each of us.
Just when everything was beginning to settle down, Victoria screamed. This time, it wasn't from her forgetful mind. No, I could sense the panic in it. “Let go of me!”
Kage and I didn't need to hear another word because we knew someone was in the kitchen with her that didn't belong. We quickly got to our feet as I set the cat down and began rushing towards the kitchen to get to her in time. We found two men trying to snatch her, but she quickly grabbed the frying pan handle and threw the grease at the guy behind her shoulder's face. She then swiveled the frying pan to smack the other one across the cheek like she did me that one night. This swing had more impact. Now that she knew she could use the frying pan as a weapon, she harnessed its powers.
The man with grease on his face kept muttering curses. He wore a ski mask to prevent much from directly hitting his skin, but his eyes weren't covered. Even if he closed them in time, the lids would be burned by the grease. Victoria took his emotional state as her in, spinning the frying pan like a golf club between his legs. She thwarted his junk like I had never seen anyone do before, and she felt no shame in defending herself, and it turned me on. I loved that she was my submissive little, but I loved she could also handle herself if I wasn’t here.
When he fell to his knees, she swung the frying pan down over his head to knock him out cold with the other one who laid on the floor. I wanted to take a moment to praise her before we figured out where they came from because she earned it. The timber airiness in my voice told her how much she flabbergasted me. “Good girl…”
She went to preen, but her smile fell instantly as she shot her hands up in the air, telling me someone held a gun behind my back. That was the only plausible reaction to seeing one for those who weren’t around them. Kage and I gradually turned to find three more men that came in better prepared through the front door.
One of the menradioed to someone, commenting that he found the three they needed to collect. By the Italian accent, I knew who it was before we'd even arrive at their complex. The Carnellis weren't a family that wanted to be messed with, but I knew I did a thorough job cleaning up their last murder. Why were they trying to kidnap me now? And how do they find me?
“The Cleaner.” The one who radioed stepped forward with his rifle in hand. “You were a hard man to trace.”
“What's the meaning of this? I cleaned and sanitized everything! There wasn't a trace of your family there.”
“Interesting you should say that because the cops found enough to incriminate Dante.”
The shock on my face could be read, and he could tell by my natural reaction that I didn't fake the surprise. “What did they find?”
I knew my work like the back of my hand. I knew there was nothing there, and I took anything that could have been used against him. The bodies were cremated and blown to dust into the forest. Well, maybe not, if Leo hadn’t gotten to it yet, but they were hidden here. I burned all their belongings into ash, and I made sure nothing could be figured out by the remains. Hell, I even burned the tarp each time.
“Valentino will deal with you,” he said instead of answering me.
Victoria accidentally knocked over the baking soda from the cabinet. I didn't know if she did it on purpose or not, but I took her moment of jarring their attention to grab the barrel of the rifle and swung it upward. Kage joined me in trying to wrestle their weapons away as we pointed them up or down to ensure no one got shot. Our girl was behind us.
The ruckus could be heard from everywhere, and Victoria kept making nervous squeaks in the background, but I had to protect her. We had to make sure no one harmed her. Her safety remained in my focus as we kept going because I couldn’t let anything happen to her. My heart squeezed in my chest at the mere thought of her getting hurt, and the reality of why crept in. I'd fallen in love with her.
For all that talk with her about not getting too comfortable, this moment of life or death told me I'd only been fooling myself all along. Two other people came into the house after a few shots were fired, and they positioned their guns right on us, one shooting through my shoulder. I grunted and had to quickly clasp the wound to ensure I didn't bleed out.
The shock did me in, and Kage quickly let go of the rifle he snagged to not have the same thing happen to our girl. Victoria worried and fretted over my current state, but she shocked the masses with what fell out of her shrilling mouth. “Daddy!”
