“What happens on vacation…”
“Stays on vacation.”
Sofie shook her head. She wouldn’t be surprised if he pulled all three of them. A sharp pain suddenly pierced her heart. She inhaled sharply, an unfamiliar sensation tingling through her.
Was that jealousy?
Sofie eyed the women again, this time seeing them in a different light. Her gaze went back to him. He tossed the women a smile, and she basically watched them melt in their seats.
Jaxon was shirtless, his muscles clearly defined. His dark hair was pushed back away from his face in a tousled style. It appeared as if he’d run his fingers through it. She bit her lip and held back a sigh.
It was obvious why the women were in a tizzy about him. He was drop-dead gorgeous and looked like a Greek god.
His gaze flickered and met hers. His lips curled up into a wide grin.
“Shit,” she murmured. He’d caught her eyeing him.
He pushed back from his seat and lifted his glass. The girls’ excitement grew. They were basically eye-fucking him as he walked around the bar.
“What can I get you, pretty lady?” the bartender asked. He stopped in front of Sofie, offering her a wide grin.
“I’ll take a mai tai,” she replied.
“Coming right up.” He winked at her, glancing over her shoulder.
Sofie inhaled sharply and breathed in the scent of the smoky, sweet aroma of tobacco, leather, and wood. It smelled so good, she briefly closed her eyes before opening them. The women were now silently staring at her.
“Put it on my tab, Maleko,” Jaxon said from behind her.
“Sure thing, Jaxon.” Maleko jerked his head in a nod, turning away.
Jaxon took the vacant seat beside her. He finished off his drink and set the empty glass on the bar. He rested his body against the bar next to her. Sofie couldn’t help the way her gaze drifted along his pectoral muscles that were scattered with light hair. She followed its trail down toward his shorts. Sheswallowed hard, recognizing he was all man. Hard muscles, little to no fat on his body.
“My eyes are up here, Sofie,” he murmured.
Her gaze flew up to meet his, and she took in the cocky grin.
He lifted the cigar to his mouth and sucked a long drag, blowing out the smoke in the air. “If you’re not careful, I’ll start to think you’re interested in what you see.”
“I’m just trying to figure out where you got the audacity to invade my space and pay for my drink,” she shot back. She was going to try her best to ignore her body’s reaction to him, but that was proving to be hard. Her core clenched with need, and her nipples drew into tight little buds, rubbing against the soft cloth of her bathing suit.
“You’re always busting my balls.” He grinned. Raw heat and desire flared to life in his eyes.
Sofie was playing with fire. This she was sure of, but she was never one to back down from a challenge.
“Don’t leave them out in the public and you should be safe.” She shrugged.
Maleko returned with her drink and set it down in front of her. The peanut gallery had yet to tear their gaze from her and Jaxon. She toyed with the glass for a moment, lifting it to take a sip. It was made to perfection. Maleko was certainly heavy-handed with the rum, and she wasn’t going to complain.
“My balls are fine where they are,” he murmured. He leaned over closer, his lips brushing her ear.
She shivered, gripping her glass with both hands to have something to hold on to.
“But anytime you want to play with them,” he said, “let me know.”
“You’d like that, wouldn’t you?” She arched a brow at him.
He lifted his head and grinned. He took another hit from his cigar then set it down on the ashtray Maleko must have left for him.
