Her pussy welcomed him, coated him, surrounded him. Jaxon grunted, feeling primal in the taking of his woman.
Because that was what she was.
His woman.
His cock went deeper. Her voice was growing hoarse while she pleaded for more. His movements became faster, harder.
He craved move of Sofie.
And have her he would.
A tremor fluttered through his body. He released one of her wrists, his hand skimming up her back, her neck, and into her dark hair. He gripped it tight and continued to pound inside her.
Sofie’s body responded to him. She cried out, shaking, her second climax overtaking her. It was his name spilling from her lips as she reached her orgasm. He shuddered, her muscles clamping down on his cock. She milked him, sending him spiraling out of control.
His orgasm hit him. He continued pumping his hips, filling her with all that he had. Finally, he grew still. He pulled Sofie’s body up from the island, still lodged within her. He held her in his arms, kissing the side of her neck, holding her and never wanting to let her go.
Sofie left her patient’s room and glanced down at her watch. It had been a long grueling shift and was finally coming to an end. Her unit was short, as always, and she’d gotten the call yesterday asking if she could come in. She had only agreed to eight hours. She had plans tonight.
Plans that included a six-foot-two, gray-eyed man who took her breath away with one look. Jaxon had left her home yesterday morning with the promise of taking her out, and that would be tonight.
She arrived at the nursing station to see who would be taking over her patients. She searched for the assignment clipboard but didn’t see it. She walked over to where the charge nurse sat and found Chris hunched over it.
“Are you done with the assignment?” she asked.
Joe glanced up from what he was reading and over at her. He was an older guy who had been a nurse for a long time. He was a hard-ass but good at what he did.
“You sure you don’t want to stay?” he asked.
“I’m certain.” She pulled out her pen and papers from her scrub pocket so she could write down who would be replacing her. There was going to be no convincing her to stay today. Any other day, she would have just picked up the full twelve hours to help out.
“It’s really going to hurt with you leaving. Everyone is going to have to pick up someone.” Joe took his glasses off and dropped them down on his desk. He gave a weary sigh and stared at her.
“I told Helen when she called me that I can only do eight. This was my off day.” She reached for the clipboard and began writing down the names of the nurses who would be picking up her patients.
“But what about being a team. Each nurse will now have to have six patients.” He snorted.
“Excuse me?” She lifted her head and glared at him. She always picked up when they called and never complained. She was one of the most senior nurses on their unit and was even charged with training new hires, acting as a resource for others and went out of her way to make sure the unit ran as smoothly as possible. “I know you just didn’t try to insinuate I’m not a team player.”
“You know what I mean, Sofie. Don’t go getting mad. We’re all stressed and working short.”
“It’s not my fault that we are short and it’s not my problem.” She slammed the clipboard back down and walked away from the desk before she said something that would lead her to be called into the manager’s office.
Thoughts of Alana’s offer came to mind. Maybe it was time for her to leave bedside nursing. There was so much more she could be doing. Working with Alana would give her some freedom, and she wouldn’t have the stress of having someone’s life in her hands or the stress of feeling guilty like it was her fault there was a nursing shortage.
She’d have to speak with Alana. Maybe she’d take her out for lunch and hear her friend’s offer. Alana wouldn’t lead her wrong, and it would be nice to not have to work such long days.
Sofie breathed a sigh of relief. There was no sorrow in the thought of leaving this job as she thought there would be. She’d miss some of her coworkers, but they could always meet up outside of work.
Sofie finished up her shift and hurried out of the hospital. She slid into her car and leaned back in her seat. She didn’t want the stress of her job to follow her home. It was a beautiful day out, and she wanted to enjoy it. Turning on her car, she rolled the windows down to get some fresh air. Throwing her car in drive, she inhaled deeply, breathing in the wonderful air of freedom.
The conversation with Joe pissed her off. No matter how many hours she worked, it was never good enough. She tightened her grip on the steering wheel.
Yes, she would speak with Alana.
But for now, she had planned to get ready for her date with Jaxon. She had the next few days off. That was one perk of working as a nurse. She was only required to work three twelve-hour shifts which was considered full-time. Her extra shifts gave her overtime. Not that her pay was the best. Most peopleassumed nurses got paid the big bucks, but that wasn’t true. For all they had to deal with, the pay was nowhere where it should be.
Excitement filled her at the thought of going out with Jaxon. She didn’t know what he had planned. He had been quiet about where he was taking her and what they were doing.
