His eyes moved to the darkness that was descending fully outside.
“We only have a few minutes,” he said. “We’ll use the distraction of the announcement of our treaty to get those women out.”
Levi drew my head to his neck, his pulse steady and strong under my mouth. The temptation was too much, the need for his blood thundering through my veins. My fangs sank in and he groaned, his hands grasping me closer.
“Fuck,” he sighed in a throaty whisper. “I missed that sensation.”
My tongue lapped at the wound, his delicious flavour flooding my mouth and intoxicating me.
When I pulled back, his eyes were glowing amber and my temperature spiked by the heat in his gaze. He was wicked temptation wrapped in a package of pure male seduction with the allure of corruption that made me want to kneel at his feet and worship him.
Taking his hand in mine, I led us deep under the castle to the cave network. His presence gave me strength that I’d been lacking lately, his aura powerful and commanding. He possessed the energy of an alpha and the stance of a deadly predator.
The women still sat where I had left them. All eyes turned warily to Levi, some cowering back when they realised he was a lycan.
“Mum, Kimber, this is Levi.” My hand gripped his and he squeezed mine in return.
Mum sat beside Kimber on the ground against the wall. Her lips turned up in a smile. “He’s more handsome that his drawing.”
Levi’s brow furrowed, but he didn’t reply.
“Levi is going to take you all to safety,” I said. “He has a helicopter that is going to transport you to somewhere you will all be secure.”
“Castus will never release us,” Kimber replied, her voice devoid of all emotion.
“There are ways of making people disappear, wards that protect them from creatures searching for them. I would never take my mate anywhere that wasn’t safe,” Levi replied.
My heart stumbled over its beat at his possessive tone.
Mum stood and pulled Kimber to her feet. “Then we’ll go with you. Anywhere is better than being abused by Castus. He’s tormented my daughter enough.”
Levi ran his gaze over the women. He pressed the communication device in his ear. “Radar, I need transport for eleven ASAP.”
I tried to give them a reassuring smile, but some of them were so damaged they just stared at me blankly.
“Okay, let’s go,” I said.
Levi led the way and Mum took the rear of the group to make sure everyone was present. She kept a firm grip on Kimber, her gaze worried as she watched her.
Radar was at the entrance hall waiting for us as the sun set outside. His eyebrows rose, but he turned his attention to Levi. “The cameras are on a loop and everything from the past week is wiped.”
“Take them to the gamma site,” Levi said with a nod. “The hellspawn are attracted to them, so we need to ensure their safety.”
“On it, boss.” Radar waved to another wolf, who herded them all outside. “You coming too?”
“No.” Levi shook his head as we followed them outside. “I need to solidify this treaty. Take Nadia and Zara with you to help them adjust and tell them to keep their eyes open for any sign of hellspawn on the horizon.”
Mum was the last to go. I gasped when she gathered me into a hug that crushed my ribs.
“Stay safe, Tasha,” she whispered. “You’ve always been special.”
“No one will harm her,” Levi said from beside me.
Mum glared at him in a wordless combat. “Make sure you protect her.”
“Always.” It was his serious expression that made my heart skip a beat.
She looked at me one last time before Radar locked the door behind her and took his position in the pilot’s seat.
