“It’s so cute,” Quinn says happily. I want to ask her what she thinks about kids, but Christian appears, waving at us.

The moment is broken, I’ll have to wait to ask another day.

QUINN

“Quinn, are you okay?” Adira asks, knocking on the door to the bathroom in the hall.

I think I’m sick. It’s been a week since Linus and I bonded with Christian, and I've been feeling dizzy lately. Car rides tend to suck, certain food smells make my stomach heave. Today at dinner is the first time the food decided it needed to exit immediately.

“I think I have a stomach virus,” I say weakly. “Stay away, I really don’t want to get you sick.”

Flushing the toilet, I wince as I lean against the wall. I may as well get comfortable in case I need to vomit again. I hate being sick.

Another knock makes me sigh, groaning. It’s a different kind of knock, and as I close my eyes, I wait for them to go away. Unfortunately, I live with people who dance along the wrong side of the law, and enjoy picking locks.

“Quinn, I’m coming in,” Callum warns, opening the door.

Cracking one eye open, I watch as he steps inside.

“Hi,” I murmur softly.

“Not feeling good?” he asks, looking worried.

“No,” I sigh, rubbing my stomach. “Just feeling kind of off for at least a couple of weeks, and now I’m puking. Maybe I need more sleep?”

He gazes at me for a second before biting his lip.

“It kind of sounds like it may be something else,” he drawls. “None of us have been using protection and we’ve been having a lot of sex…”

“I’ve been operating under the thought that that couldn’t happen,” I say softly. “Do you think it is?”

“It’s possible,” he says, opening the bottom of the cabinet to rummage through until he pulls something out.

“Is that a pregnancy test?” I ask him. “Why do you just randomly have that?”

“We have a lot of random things,” he mutters. “Duncan and I tend to be hoarders.”

My lips twitch as I take the test from his hand. Gazing down at it, I blink furiously.

“What if I am?” I whisper. “Are we ready for that?”

“Baby, I think we are ready for whatever adventure you take us on,” he says seriously. “We’re not kids, we have solid finances, and everyone who could hurt you is dead. We’re ready to follow you wherever, because we’ve already walked through hell with you. Now we get to have the good parts too. Take the test, Baby Girl.”

Getting off the floor, I nod, opening the package.

“What if I don’t have to pee?” I ask, eyes wide.

Callum holds back a smile as he fills up a cup with water and hands it to me.

“So we’ll wait till you do,” he says gently as I take the cup to drink it down. “Or we can do that.”

Glaring at the empty cup, I hand it back to Callum.

“You’re so fucking cute,” he says.

We chat for a few minutes before my eyes widen. “I have to pee,” I hiss. “Do I just do it?”

“I’m not leaving, so I’ll turn my back so you can go,” he says, turning. “Hold it under the stream while trying not to drown the stick. That’s what I hear anyway.”
