Which means…

She pushed the thought away.

Peering around Alek’s body, she saw a door at the end of the hall with two huge males on either side of it. Whatever was behind that door must be where they were headed—and she doubted it was good.

Alek must have thought so as well because he immediately started pulling back, trying to put himself between Bella and the other female and the Alpha.

“Cut it out.” The Alpha’s voice was a growl that reached deep inside Bella, tugging at something within her. He brought them to an abrupt halt, and she wanted to drop to her knees. She might have if Alek had not been there, holding her up by the cordleading from his bound hands to hers. The Alpha’s hard eyes swept over all three of them. He smirked at them. “You are not going to be harmed. You are going to meet the Wolf.”

Terror struck Bella’s center, her mouth going so dry, she could not have screamed if she wanted to.

The Wolf. The Alpha in charge of the territory. The most feared Alpha out of all the Alphas. No one knew why he was called the Wolf, but there were whispers. Talk of throats being torn out, his vicious nature, his merciless killing sprees. Children in Zone One were warned to behave, or the Wolf would come and take them away, never to be seen again.

Once she’d grown up, Bella had assumed he was not actually real. He could not be.

“My name is Jordan.” The Alpha’s gaze flickered behind Bella, and she realized he was looking at the petite blonde. She got the feeling he had introduced himself for the other female’s sake. For a brief moment, Bella was relieved he was focused on the other female… then she felt like the worst person in the world for her relief. She didn’t know what it meant for the blonde, but she did not think it could be anything good. Jordan’s gaze swung back around, freezing Bella in place. “Cooperate, and everything will go much easier for you. ”

The low growl that followed his command made her shudder. There was a part of her that was screaming inside, wanting her to fight, to dosomething…yet she knew it would be a mistake. Even if the guards hadn’t been down the hall, even if Jordan wasn’t an Alpha and bigger and stronger and far more lethal, they had no idea where they were. They wouldn’t know which way to go.

It would be foolish to try anything right now.

Alek’s shoulders slumped, and he allowed Jordan to lead them forward again. Bella and the blonde followed behind, unable to do anything else, though she wished she could dragher feet as the door came closer and closer. The guards beside it were just as big as Jordan, their eyes just as hard.

Their nostrils flared as the group approached, one of them lifting his head.

“Omegas.” He grinned at Jordan, then frowned, leaning toward Alek. “This one though…”

Jordan chuckled. “We’ll see, won’t we?”

The answering growls made something inside Bella shiver. She wanted to moan as she pressed her thighs together, her nipples hardening beneath her shirt. What was happening to her?

The other one sniffed the air again.

“They’re both ripe.” He looked at Bella, and the oddest noise came from him, almost like a very loud cat’s purr, and Bella felt her knees tremble as her insides turned to liquid.

“That’s what happens when they’ve been on the suppressors for so long.” Jordan shook his head. “The Wolf will certainly enjoy the show.”

“We all will,” the first guard replied, winking at Jordan as he stepped to the side to open the door.

None of what they were saying made sense, but it filled Bella with the most awful sense of foreboding. She didn’t want to go through that door.

Yet she had no choice.

Alek

Something was happening inside him, and he didn’t understand what.

He felt… wrong. Had felt wrong from the moment he’d woken. His senses were heightened, his perception sharper, and his body… it didn’t quite feel like his. As if some presence had taken him over from the inside, changing his reactions, altering his responses.

Walking into this room had made everything worse.

He wanted to protect Bella, and the myriad of others now present made that all the more difficult.

And their scents…
