“Nice to meet you,” Camila said first, and I turned around and did the same.
They looked nothing alike, but Cheryl had that same air of confidence that Genevieve possessed. I gave her a smile as she frowned ever so slightly, but continued smiling.
“What else do you have planned for the day?” Cheryl asked, but no one answered.
I assumed she was talking to Genevieve so I continued watching Lou bag the items. Dammit this was so awkward.
“We didn’t have anything planned,” Camila said, even though we did have plans.
Genevieve stayed silent, not correcting her.
“Oh great, we should all have lunch together,” Cheryl said excitedly.
“Oh no, that’s fine,” Camila said immediately. “You guys have a great lunch together.”
Genevieve didn’t even attempt to say anything, not even meeting our gaze. It only confirmed my suspicions that she didn’t want anyone to know about us. I felt like a dirty secret, likewewere her dirty secret. I deluded myself thinking that we could have something more together, that maybe she was coming around.
“Nonsense,” Cheryl said, looking between us. “Genevieve has talked so much about you that I would love to get to know who my sister is hanging out with.”
Still no word from Genevieve. I guess we were just hanging out.
“I think it’s best if we go home,” I said, giving a tight smile, seeing Camilla tapping away at her phone.
“Thank you for your purchase!” Lous handed over two bags.
“Thanks Lou, it was nice to meet you and thank you for the champagne,” I said, grabbing the bags that had things I didn’t know if we would even use without Genevieve.
“I… I can drop you off,” Genevieve said, putting a toy on the table finally looking up at us.
Long gone was her playful demeanor and she looked like the Mistress we had met in the beginning. She was cold and detached.
“Our car is pulling up,” Camila said, putting her phone away. “Lou, it was lovely meeting you. You too, Cheryl.”
“Nice meeting you.” I nodded at Cheryl who gave me a sad smile.
“You too,” she said.
“Bye, Genevieve,” I said, moving past them.
“Good bye,” Camila said without looking at Genevieve.
We walked out hand in hand and as we waited outside I pulled Camila to me. My stomach soured that this might be thebeginning of the end. That everything I was hoping for was about to disappear and I was an idiot for allowing us to go so far down this path.

Genevieve
Luke and Camila left without a backwards glance. My stomach turned as they left the shop and my heart started to beat faster. Lou and Cheryl's eyes on me made me even more uncomfortable.
“What the fuck was that, Genevieve?” Cheryl snapped.
“What?” I snapped back even though I knew exactly what she was talking about.
“You were a complete bitch to them,” Cheryl said. “If you can get your head out of your ass for two seconds, go after them!”
I clenched my jaw in anger, not because I was mad at Cheryl but because I was making things so much harder on myself. Seeing Cheryl felt like cold water had been splashed on me and the reality of our situation suddenly hit me. I would always be a third in their relationship, it would be Camila and Luke and then me. How would we introduce ourselves? Hey, this is my married couple? Or I'm the real mistress but the wife knows about me. They would leave, it was only a matter of time.
Our bubble had broken, and with it, all of my insecurities came crashing down on me. I felt stupid that I had thought this could work, that we could be more than just a contract, morethan a Madame and her Subs. This didn’t work in real life and I was only setting myself up for heartache.
