“Well dinner and breakfast means you spent the night and that is the best,” he said with a small smile on his face, as if he was thinking about them.

“You’ve got it bad,” I said, happy for him.

“Damn, what is happening to us?” He took a deep breath leaning back on the sofa.

“Life,” I said, leaning back too. “And amazing people.”

We stayed quiet for a minute before he turned to look at me.

“You should talk with them and see what they think, you might be overthinking this,” he said.

“Just like you are,” I said, raising my brow. “I think this would be good for you, Easton.”

“Thanks for lunch,” he said. “I've missed our chats.”

“Me too,” I said, thankful for Easton and that we never worked out, because it's nice to have friends who know exactly what you are going through.

My nerves were gettingthe best of me. Luke and Camila were coming over for dinner. Cheryl had graciously cooked us dinner and just left so that I could speak to them in private.

The food smelled amazing, but I was going to be too nervous to eat. The ding of the elevator made my heart jump in my throat. I hated this feeling. I was not a person to get nervous like this.

You wanted them on a deeper level.

I didn’t know what to say to that or how to process that. It was always my plan to stay single and now wanting someone felt foreign, but in what capacity was I willing to give of myself?

“That smells delicious.” Camila’s voice made me smile.

“I wonder what she cooked,” Luke said, holding his wife’s hand.

They were both casual as I requested, with coats and beanies since the November air had grown cold.

I snorted. “I can cook the basics, but tonight's dinner is brought to you by my lovely sister.”

“Same, Luke is the cook in our relationship,” Camila said, smiling as she walked up to me.

I missed her.

We hugged and I kissed her cheek, but that wasn’t enough for her. She captured my mouth in a kiss that made my stomach swoop like I was on a roller coaster. I barely had time to breathe before Luke captured my mouth in a kiss. Where Camila was a little demanding, Luke kissed me with a softness that waswrapped in confidence. He sucked my bottom lip into his mouth before placing a soft kiss on my lips.

“Good evening, Mistress,” he said, shrugging out of his coat, still close to me.

“Hello, pet,” I said, taking his jacket.

I grabbed Camila’s to hang them both by the door.

“We will be eating in the living room if that's ok,” I said, walking back to them, wondering why I was being so timid.

You don’t want to spook them.

My inner thoughts were getting way too comfortable with calling me out, and I was starting to hate it. I pushed the sofas back a little to be able to put a few cushions on the ground with pillows. I had already set up some appetizers on the table.

“This looks great,” Camila said, unzipping her boots.

“What would you like to drink?” I asked, walking to the bar.

“I’ll have whatever you're having,” Camila said.

“I’ll have some water,” Luke said, wincing when he sat down on the floor.
