My gaze becomes half-hooded.
“Clearly you’re more of a bad servant. Or are you a vampire one?” She laughs. “Can I have my finger back now?”
I let it go with a final lick.
Robyn’s pupils are dilated. Her cheeks are flushed.
I rest my elbows on the lip of the bath. “If Jude is kicked out of the Bay Rebels—”
“He won’t be.” Robyn’s mouth is drawn in a firm line. “You’ll win those games. I have faith in you. Plus, D’Angelo has written in the Guide a rule that we get to act out a secret fantasy every time that you win a game.”
“You should have led with that. I’m winning that reward.”
“I spoke to Dad after the meeting. He has faith in you too, in his gruff way, or he’d never have spoken up. He’s insisting that Colton take extra practice to prepare you for the games. He also wants to keep an eye on Colton I think. It’ll be a tough week, but hey, we’ve got through worse, right?”
“Bloody understatement, love. But those idiots have just given us the motivation to come together as a team and score higher than we have the entire season. This could be an opportunity to show those VIP bastards just how good we are. And I won’t be separated from my captain, no matter what happens. If they boot Jude out, well… wherever he goes, so do I.”
“He won’t let you throw your career away on this.”
“I wouldn’t be throwing it away. I’d be choosing us.” I reach to take Robyn’s champagne glass from her to place it down on the side of the bath.
Then I touch each of the gleaming rings on her hand in turn: one from Jude, Eden, and me.
I trace more slowly over each of the stars on the ring that I gave her.
It makes my heart leap every time that I glimpse it on her hand, when she’s doing the simplest things from putting on her lipstick in the mornings to typing on her laptop.
I give her a heated look. “Mistress.”
This may only be role play, but the word feels more right than it ever has.
I feel more settled and grounded.
I’m falling into the right headspace.
My limbs feel light. For the first time, since coach turned up at the beach house, my mind is clear of thoughts and worries.
All that matters is pleasing my Robyn.
All that matters is bringing her pleasure.
All that matters is my goddess.
I bend over and kiss each of the rings lingeringly in turn.
Robyn’s breath hitches.
She reaches to run her fingers gently through my hair like she can’t believe that I’m real. Then she tightens her hold on my hair, yanking.
I hiss, as her tug sends delicious tingles through my scalp.
I pretend to pull away but only so that Robyn will pull on my hair again.
She does.
I allow myself to be tugged into a hard, unyielding kiss.
Robyn tastes deliciously of fruity champagne. I deepen the kiss, as she pulls even more fiercely on my hair.
