Page 182 of Pucking Obsessed

She presses her hand harder against the glass like she longs to touch my cheek.

To the outside world, we still look like a player and his PR, the coach’s daughter, celebrating after a match.

Yet we secretly know that we’re each other’s heart and soul.

The rink’s bright light catches the rings on her hand. She glances down, studying the star ring that I gave her.

It meansI love youmore than words ever could.

Who cares what the rest of the world thinks or knows?

Who cares what narrative they create? Lies or gossip they spread?

We know the truth.

It’s precious because only we hold it.

I’ve learned how easily our relationship could be poisoned, if it was leaked too early to a world that still wants to own us.

I only want to be owned by Robyn and D’Angelo.

They’ll possess me for the rest of my life.

Robyn looks up and meets my gaze.

Her eyes are warm and like being hugged, and loved, and finally finding home.

I love you, I say in my mind.I love you, I fucking love you.

I don’t know if it shows on my face, but Robyn’s expression softens.

Her cheeks flush a pretty pink.

I love you, I think even harder, pressing against the glass.I’ll bloody love you forever.

CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT

Captain’s Hall, Freedom

Robyn

“Happy Birthdayto the best sister in the world! Be your unique self!” I read the front of the card.

A sparkling unicorn on the birthday card is winking and holding up a champagne glass.

I knew that Cody would find a way to make a joke out of Dildogate.

Neve has ordered D’Angelo a special unicorn horn butt plug. I can’t wait for that parcel to arrive and for D’Angelo to open it.

Some gifts are priceless…like the expression on D’Angelo’s face will be.

I’ve already received my birthday present from Dad, which was just as perfect: Colton’s official dismissal from the Bay Rebels.

Dad messaged me a picture of the document, then a photo of Colton looking horrified, and the single word underneath itfired.

I’d love to know what Colton said to Dad after he took his photograph like he wanted to keep the happy memory of the moment.

It helps the final anxiety in me unwind to know that Colton will no longer be a staff member at the Bay Rebels.
