“Hey,” Killian mumbled, pressing his lips to the back of my neck. His breath was warm against my skin, and I could feel his concern as he stroked his hand gently across my belly, soothing me. “Calm down, baby girl. You’re okay. You’re safe.”
Words stuck in my throat, and I couldn’t bring myself to speak. Everything inside of me screamed that he was lying to me, that he was trying to get me to drop my guard so they could hurt me again.
Rationally, I knew that wasn’t true, at least as far as Killian went. The man had worn his heart on his sleeve from the very second I met him, and I knew that rejecting me hadn’t been his idea. He had rescued me—if that didn’t tell me that he had nothing to do with rejecting me, I didn’t know what did.
Slowly, my muscles unlocked, and I was able to relax between the two men slightly.
Emmett let out a soft purr in front of me, his hand gently sweeping up and down the outside of my thigh where one of them lay. “Good girl,” he mumbled. His lips brushed against the skin of my throat again, making goose bumps rise on my skin, and I nodded slightly as their combined presence and words continued to calm me down.
“I...” I swallowed and then let out a shaky sigh, sinking back into the comfort of half-sleep that was still trying to ground my brain. Thinking was too hard right now and wouldn’t get me anywhere good. My body was tense and on alert again, ready to panic at the slightest provocation, and right now, all I wanted was to rest.
We lay like that for a while longer, breathing in each other’s scents and relaxing. I could feel the moment when Killian started to become more aware of our surroundings because his touch went from lazy and sleepy to a little more purposeful. His fingers stroked along my lower belly, where my skin was exposed by the tank top that had ridden up, and Emmett continued to press tiny, tender kisses to my throat as he breathed in my scent.
Their touches were soothing and exciting in their own ways, but in the back of my mind, I knew that all of this was, at least in part, for them as well. I could feel the tension radiating through Killian. His arm was tight around me, holding me back against his chest until there wasn’t even an inch between us. I couldn’t help but feel like Killian was terrified that I would disappear right in front of his eyes again, and that knowledge made warmth bloom low in my belly.
He wanted me, and it was nice to feel wanted. I wasn’t going to deny myself that, especially not right now when I was feeling so fragile.
“You doing a little bit better?” Emmett asked softly. He finally lifted his head, and his eyes were sleepy and hooded as he looked at me. His dark hair was rumpled, and I gave in to the urge to run my fingers through it, calming the strands slightly. They were soft under my fingertips, and my inner omega purred when his eyes fell shut even further, and a low, powerful growl rumbled to life in his chest.
“I...a little bit...” I answered a little hesitantly. I continued to run my fingers through Emmett’s hair, my stomach squirming when his purr grew louder, and Killian hummed behind me, pressing his lips to my ear as his hand finally slid fully under my shirt and pressed flat.
“That’s good. We’re here for you, Lilah. I need you to know that.” He paused, and then his voice was a little lower and huskier when he continued, “Whatever you need, I want to give it to you, baby girl.”
Arousal flared to life inside of me at his words, and I couldn’t stop the tiny whimper that escaped me as my thighs pressed tightly together. My sex drive had been all but nonexistent since I’d left the house after Oliver rejected me, but now, my instincts started to stir. My pussy clenched, quickly growing wet between my legs, and I could tell the exact moment when both alphas were able to scent it.
Killian growled in my ear, and Emmett groaned in front of me, burying his face in my neck again. His tongue darted out, dragging along my throat, and I gasped, tipping my head back and leaning against Killian’s shoulder to give Emmett better access.
“Not...” I struggled with my words, distracted by the way Emmett’s teeth were nipping against my collarbone, no doubt leaving marks that would remind me of this moment later when I had time to clear my head. Still, it was important that I say this, that they know where my boundary was. “Not all the way. Not yet. I’m not ready.”
Killian made a soft sound of assent behind me, and he nodded, his hand stroking against my skin. “You just let us know where the line is, baby girl. We will never push you past what you’re ready for.”
Emmett made a soft sound of agreement, and then he looked up at me, arousal and desire shining in his eyes—and control. Emmett was in full control of his urges right now, even though I could feel the hard length of his cock pressing up against my hip.
I knew Killian felt the same. Turned on, wanting me, but willing to go at whatever pace I set. I held all the power in the situation. That was a heady piece of information to have, and it made my arousal surge even higher as I looked at these powerful alphas waiting for me to tell them what to do.
“This is nice,” I whispered. I ran my fingers through Emmett’s hair again, allowing myself a small smile, even as my stomach squirmed with nerves. “Can we just...do this? And I’ll tell you if you go too far.”
I held my breath as they both looked at me, breathing gently. I knew that what I was asking was a lot. I was telling them explicitly that I didn’t want to have sex, but I wanted to be in bed with them. Any other alpha would have difficulty controlling their urges like this, especially around an omega they were scent-matched with.
I had confidence in these men, though. I knew that they wouldn’t overstep or push me any further. I knew that neither of them wanted to traumatize me any more than I already had been.
And when Emmett smiled at me, the expression brilliant on his normally stoic face, I couldn’t help the way my heart pattered.
“Of course,” he said softly.
Then he leaned in and pressed his lips against mine, and my eyes fluttered closed as I kissed him back. It was gentle, the way his lips moved against mine. Killian resumed stroking my skin with his fingertips, distracting me and giving me equal attention. I squirmed a little against him, inadvertently pressing my ass up against his hard cock, and he rocked forward, grinding its hard length against me.
“I missed you,” Killian murmured, peppering kisses against the back of my neck. His hips continued to rock against me, his hands nudging against the waistband of the shorts I had slept in. They slid a little lower, and he whispered, “I know that it was only a week, and you probably don’t remember much of what happened there. But the house felt so empty without you, and I wasn’t even here for most of that time.”
“He wasn’t,” Emmett confirmed. He pulled away from me, looking at me with serious eyes again as if making sure I was paying attention before he continued, “Killian was really upset, Lilah. He was gone for days. We didn’t know where he was. Oliver was ready to file a missing person’s report, but I knew that Killian would come back eventually...and he would have a plan for how to get you.”
He looked at me meaningfully, and the regret in his eyes nearly took my breath away. I’d known that the decision to reject me had been Oliver’s exclusively, but I couldn’t deny that I’d been hurt when Emmett hadn’t said anything in my favor. Knowing that he was willing to just step aside and give in to whatever Oliver wanted, no matter what it was...I wasn’t sure how long it would take before my trust in Emmett’s judgment was rebuilt.
Emmett’s understanding eyes told me that he knew that and was willing to put in the work.
I swallowed and then nodded. “I...” I murmured. “You’re right. I don’t really remember much. But...” I released his hair and pressed my hand flat to my sternum, feeling my heart pounding there, and continued, “I missed you, too. I can feel it right here.”
Emmett’s eyes dipped, and he pressed his lips to my sternum, teasing just barely over the neckline of my shirt. “You won’t have to miss us anymore, sweetheart. That’s a promise,” he murmured.
