“I can’t even feel it. All I can feel is my ass. It’s on fire.”

He chuckles. “What a dirty mouth my girl has.” He sits next to me and rubs my back. “I know you’re exhausted, and I can’t even begin to imagine what it was you just purged, but I want you to take a nap. I’ll wake you up in an hour. You need to eat some lunch, and then you’re going to talk to me.”

“Yes, Daddy.” For the first time since I met him, I want to do just that. I want to tell him everything on my mind, spit it all out. It’s going to come out in a word vomit, but I need the release. I need him to understand me better.

I close my eyes. I’m lulled by him rubbing my back. It’s the last thing I remember before I drift off.

CHAPTER 19

Isaac

I spend the next hour unpacking the boxes that came this morning. The items that belong in the kitchen get put away in the cabinets. Amber will find out about them as I use them. I fill a laundry basket with a folded pile of clothes I bought for her and set the basket next to her door.

Spence texts me to let me know he’s sending a messenger with the paperwork I need to sign, and I’m relieved he arrives while Amber is still napping. She can’t ask any questions about something she’s not aware of.

I hate to wake her, but she will have trouble sleeping tonight if I let her go much longer. The nap was necessary after the long, hard cry, but an hour is enough. Plus, she needs to eat.

I pad into her room, sit on the edge of her bed, and gently rub her back.

She whimpers. “Daddy?”

“I’m right here, baby. You need to wake up and come eat.”

“Don’t wanna.” She flips her head in the other direction.

I chuckle. “Not optional, baby. You need to have some lunch, and then we’re going to talk.”

She shakes her head. Fuck she’s adorable. “My ass hurts.”

“It’s going to hurt more if you keep cussing. No more cussing.”

She lifts her head, turns to look at me, and narrows her gaze. “You can’t order me not to cuss.”

I lift a brow.

She groans. “Isaac!”

“I prefer Daddy, and Daddy makes the rules.”

“You haven’t even told me the rules yet.”

I chuckle. “I’ve told you a few. I’ve warned you what will happen if you give me the slip ever again. I’ve also told you there will be no more spinning around in circles, no more closing doors, and no touching your pussy.”

She sighs and rolls onto her side. “What else? Lay it on me now.”

“Sassy girl. No sassing Daddy. I bet Cassandra told you what some of her rules are, didn’t she?”

“Yeah, but she plays at a pretty young age.”

“Well, we’ll start there and adjust as we go along.”

She gasps dramatically as though I told her she had to go to bed without dinner. It’s hard to keep a straight face when my girl brings out her sassy side. She’s always done it, but now it has a new meaning.

“No running in the house. No cussing. No shouting.”

She rolls her eyes.

“No eye-rolling,” I add.
