There had been tears, which she hated.

There had been pain, whichshe hated.

There were a lot of thingsthat happened last night, which she hated. She had no idea where Cain went orif he even returned.

She was no coward, so thismorning she’d taken another shower. There was a slight pain between her thighs, but nothing too terrible. It wasn’t like she got fucked last night. One singleslide of penetration, and then it was gone.

It fucking sucked, bigtime, and it pissed her off. Fucking asshole.

He’d not put any clothesout for her, so she wore a pair of jeans and a black shirt, and came downstairsto eat her cereal.

Still no sign of him.

She crunched her waythrough the bowl, wanting to throw the whole thing against the wall. Instead, she stayed perfectly calm.

“Losingyour cool is never a sign of how good you are. Staying calm in spite of wantingto tear the fucking world apart, and not, is a sign of a good person.”Ben had often told her to not give in to her anger. Anger made peopleact irrationally. It made people say and do things they would later regret.

“How are you?” Cain asked, causing her to jerk her head up.

She looked up and saw hehad changed from the clothes he wore last night.

“Are you sure you want theanswer to that, or are you just going to take off like you did last night?” sheasked, then scooped more of her cereal and crunched.

She didn’t hate, yet shewanted to. He’d taken off, as if her virginity was something to be embarrassedabout or disgusted by. It didn’t matter now. Cain had already claimed hervirginity, there was no going back.

“I acted poorly,” Cainsaid.

“Oh, you think? I don’tknow, is that normal for guys to do? To want sex, and because it is a woman’sfirst time, they just panic and run off?”

“I was not expecting youto be a virgin,” he said.

She rolled her eyes. “Why?You believed your son that I was a slut.”

“The situations you havefound yourself in. By your own admittance, you ended up on the streets. Trustme, I have been there and I’ve seen women and girls younger than you, only ableto give up their bodies to make it through.”

Leah took a deep breath. Now she understood him a little. “I came close,” Leah said. “Just before I metBen. I came so very close. It was why that pimp was trying to beat on me. I’dturned him down, because I couldn’t stand the thought of anyone touching me.Ben helped, and he made sure I then learned everything I could. That’s why yourson didn’t stand a chance. He made sure I’d be my own person. Knowing what menare like. I’ve never wanted to be close to anyone. It’s why, until last night,I was still a virgin.” She looked at him and shrugged. “But don’t worry. I donot consider last night anything special. Trust me, I’m sure women hate it whena man realizes they’re the first and behaves in the way you did.” She lost herappetite and threw her remaining cereal away, before cleaning away her dishes.“If you don’t mind, I’m going to take a personal day.”

She’d never asked for anytime off, nor had she ever needed it. The truth was, she didn’t exactly need itnow, but there was no way she was going to work with him for at least the nexttwenty-four hours. First, she needed to put whatever happened last night behindher, and then she’d be able to move on.

It wasn’t like she everthought about sex or what it would be like with a man. The experience orwanting the experience had never even entered her brain. There was a time shewondered if she was normal. After all, a lot of women were constantly going outon dates, hooking up with random guys, having fun, all in the name of finding MisterRight. She’d been more interested in learning to survive. She wondered what itwould have been like to grow up without the worry of just surviving.

Leah knew her experiencesin life were not unique. She was also aware that not everyone’s childhood wasquite as wonderful as they painted in the movies. Some people got to experienceit.

Pushing that negative shitout of her mind, she left the kitchen without another look at Cain. Thehorrible truth was, he’d broken her heart, and he hadn’t even promised heranything to begin with.

****

Cain knew he’d acted likea complete and total asshole. He didn’t need anyone telling him where he fuckedup. Feeling Leah’s tight cunt last night and then hearing her scream, and justknowing as he looked into her eyes what had been the cause, he’d reacted. Hehadn’t given himself time to think. He’d known what all the little intricacies meant.

Leah had been a virgin, and in his very first penetration, he’d hurt her. There was no need for asecond or even a third explanation. He fucked up. Big time.

He’d left his home, goneto one of his bars that was open all night, had a couple of whiskeys, followedby a few coffees, and then returned home. There had been a few women who werehappy to offer him some company, but he refused. There was only one woman hewanted, and she was right at home.

What the fuck had he done?Leah deserved to be treated better, and now she was spending the day to get hershit together. If she even suggested it was time for her to move on, he wasgoing to lose his shit. She wasn’t going anywhere. He still owned her ass.

After having a bowl ofcereal and cursing his own bullshit in allowing his staff to have time off, hemade his way upstairs. He didn’t go to his own room, but instead went toLeah’s.

He’d already arranged for oneof his guards to follow her. He made a lot of enemies and seeing as she’d beenby his side the past six months, she’d be a potential target. This is why henever allowed people to get close to him. They were always at risk of being inthe firing line, and with that shit, he couldn’t let it happen. He refused tolet it happen.
