“Ah,” I sighed as I sank under the water, leaving just my head and shoulders exposed. The water was the perfect temp and felt great against my sore muscles.

All of them.

As I soaked, I couldn’t help but think about Jameson. He was like a dream come true, and the thought of leaving him made me sad.

Snap out of it, Luz, he’s just a guy.

A really, really hot guy.

Not to mention, considerate and funny. He was my perfect book boyfriend come to life, and I was planning to leave him the next day.

How stupid was that?

Back home, I’d never even considered having a relationship. My dad made it clear that the only one I would have would be within the cartel network, and those were almost always transactional and loveless.

Now, I was experiencing real romance; the kind I’d always read about yet never thought I’d have. Would I be a fool to give it up?

I snorted at myself. I’d only known Jameson for a day and I was acting like he was the one. There was no way that could be true.

Could it?

I shook my head, trying to talk some sense into myself. What was important was getting to Seattle and starting my new life, not a fling with a hot biker from Vegas. I needed to focus on that and not the possibility of a fairy tale.

I finished up in the bath, then put a robe on and went out to the living area. Jameson sat on the couch with a pizza box on the table in front of him. “Hey.” He smiled. “Did you have a nice bath?”

A small smile tipped my lips. “I did. Thank you.”

“Pizza just got here a few minutes ago.”

“Perfect,” I said, walking over and sitting beside him. “I’m starving.”

As we ate, I prepared myself to leave. Our checkout time was tomorrow so I definitely needed to go back to our hotel and get my things together. “I’ve had a really great time with you,” I said once I finished eating.

Jameson smiled warmly at me, tucking a strand of my loose hair behind my ear. “Me too.”

My stomach knotted, my breath catching in my throat. “I need to get back to my hotel. Our checkout is tomorrow.”

His face fell, and he nodded. “Okay. I can give you a ride.”

“I have to text Olivia and see what her plans are,” I said, taking out my phone.

“I think my brother was taking her to a show or something,” Jameson informed me.

I furrowed my brows as I brought up my text thread with Elise. Sure enough, she’d sent me a text about going to a show with Raleigh and that she would meet me back at the hotel.

I sighed, not wanting to leave but knowing I needed to. “I’m gonna get dressed.”

I went back into the bedroom and found my clothes from the night before and put them on. I went back out to meet Jameson, who was standing by the window looking down at the fountains. “I’m ready.”

He glanced over at me. “Stay.”

My brow furrowed. “I can’t.”

“Please. You’re leaving tomorrow, and I’m never going to see you again, so let me have just one more night with you.”

The look on his face was so endearing that it made my chest tighten. My resolve was already almost nonexistent, so his pleas were enough to change my mind. “Okay,” I whispered.

I wasn’t sure he heard me until he swept me up into his arms, crushing his lips to mine. I wrapped my legs around his waist, and he carried me back into the bedroom, stripping me of the clothes I’d just put on.
