“There’s nothing anyone can do. I think I need to talk to Reaper about being home more though. I want to be with her and I really can’t afford the nurse that’s been helping take care of her when I’m here,” I answer, my voice trembling with the pain filling me.

“We can help,” Eagle offers as he’s done a million times in the past.

“I can’t ask you to do that. I’m really trying to respect my grandma’s wishes and not touch my trust fund to handle this, but I’m gonna have to break that promise and it’s not something I’ve ever done before,” I say, pain filling me because my grandma wants me to use that money for myself and any children I have in the future instead of wasting it on her and keeping her alive or comfortable until she takes her last breath.

“You’re not askin’, Doll. Eagle and I have the money and we want to help you. Can’t say we haven’t made our intentions with you obvious at this point, Rebel. Even your grandma knows where we want this to go. Gave us her blessin’ and everythin’. I thought Eagle was gonna piss himself when she threatened to cut our cocks off with a dull, rusty blade if we ever hurt you. Not sayin’ I wasn’t gonna piss my pants right next to him. Grandma is scary when she goes all mama bear mode,” Cash says, trying to make me laugh at the vision he’s just given me.

Yes, Eagle and Cash both call her Grandma as she’s asked them to.

I know all about the conversation he’s referencing because I was shamelessly listening in from the kitchen a few weeks ago when the three of them were talking. It was when she truly started to show how sick she was and started being in constant pain. She was sleeping more often than she was awake. That day, she managed to wake up and have a full conversation with the two men surrounding me. Her voice was strong and steady instead of breaking from wheezing that I’ve only been hearing. When she was done talking to them, she passed out as if she used up all of her strength for that one talk. It broke my heart and made me truly realize how bad things were getting for her.

“I told her to let go today. That if she’s in too much pain to let go and leave it all behind,” I inform them, my heart breaking all over again as I remember the whispered words I said shortly before the nurse got there to take care of her overnight.

“You’re done here for now, Sweet Girl. You need to be home with your grandma. Cash and I will move in with you so the two of you aren’t alone. We’ll help out with the cost of nursin’ for her and do what she needs from us,” Eagle states, his voice slightly harder than I usually hear it and I know he’s in VP mode right now. “Don’t worry about Reaper. I’ll let him know what’s goin’ on. You know he loves Grandma as much as everyone else here. He’ll gladly give you the time off to spend with her.”

“You can’t do that,” I try to argue with him, already knowing I’m gonna lose this battle.

“We can and are, Rebel. I’m gonna go pack a bag,” Cash says, untangling his body from mine and leaving me wrapped up in Eagle’s arms.

We don’t move until Cash comes back in the room I know is Eagle’s based on the smell surrounding us. He gets up and packs a bag of his own before Cash lifts me in his arms and we head out. Cash doesn’t stop until we’re at the line of bikes. He sets me on his before placing a helmet on my head and doing the strap up. Once he has his bag secure in the saddle bag, he gets on in front of me and wraps my arms around his torso. This is the first time I’ve been on one of their bikes. Eagle and Cash are both men who believe the only female who will ever sit on their bike is the woman they plan on making their ol’ lady. This makes something shift deep inside and I can’t even begin to process what this means for us moving forward. I really don’t have time as Eagle exits the clubhouse and gets on his bike. In a minute, the engines are roaring in the still night before we take off and head back to my house, leaving my car in the parking lot where I know it will be safe.

Chapter Two

Eagle

SPENDING LAST NIGHTwith Rebel was one of the best feelings in the world but at the same time it’s horrible knowing the reason why. Hearing that she told her grandma to let go broke my fucking heart. For so long, her grandma has been the only family she has. Between her parents traveling for work and then dying in the plane crash, Rebel’s grandma has been her rock and her parental figure. She is losing the last of her family and there’s nothing we can do about it for her. We can’t help her through this because she has to work through her feelings on her own. The only thing we can do is give her all the support and love we have and be there for her because she deserves nothing less than having someone at her side the way she’s been there for everyone here in the clubhouse and those around her. Whenever we’ve had problems at the clubhouse, Rebel has been there even in the smallest of ways for everyone. Now we all need to be there for her.

Last night before she fell asleep, Rebel told us she had to find at least two more jobs in order to pay for the nursing that comes in for her grandma. She does what she can during the day and has learned everything she needs to do in order to ensure her grandma has the best care she can give her. At night when she’s here, a nurse stays with Grandma. If Rebel’s having a hard time paying for one to be there during the hours she’s at the clubhouse, I don’t see her making it work when she’s gotta work during the day when she’s normally at home. Not to mention the fact that it takes away time she has with her grandma until the day she’s no longer here. Cash and I looked at one another over Rebel and saw how sad and upset she was with the knowledge that she’s not going to be around much longer and that she’s essentially given her permission to leave her behind all on her own.

When we woke up this morning, Rebel was already gone. Cash and I were left in bed with pillows between the two of us. Rebel’s bed is smaller than what Cash and I are used to, but she needed to be home. I wanted her to still be in bed with us, but I’m sure she wanted to get downstairs to be with her grandma. The nurse would’ve had to leave once her hours were up and it would’ve left Grandma all alone. We’ve all accepted her into our family because she’s important to Rebel and Rebel’s important to us. Not to mention the fact that Grandma has been there for us and accepted us without judgment or reservation because of rumors she’s heard about the club through local gossip fiends who love nothing more than to spread false news about us because they have nothing better to do with their lives.

Stretching my body, I listen as my joints snap and crack like normal as I reach over and hit Cash. This isn’t the first time we’ve woken up in bed without the girl who was between us previously. They know once we’re done with them they leave the fucking room. We don’t want them and honestly really haven’t fucked around since we met Rebel. Don’t get me wrong, we’ve fucked a Phantom girl or two but we keep it locked down so she doesn’t see what we’re doing. The last thing we’re going to do is rub that shit in her face because we all know Rebel has a rule about fucking with us. Pound is the only man who’s ever felt her touch or gotten even the smallest piece of her. He was a lucky man and I only hope Cash and I are able to get that piece of her eventually because we want all of her.

“Where’s Rebel?” Cash’s sleepy voice asks me, his hair all over the place as he stretches his own body.

“I’m sure she went downstairs already. The nurse would’ve had to leave and she spends her days with Grandma. I think we need to talk to Reaper and see if there’s anythin’ we can do to help her out,” I state, getting out of Rebel’s bed and head for the bathroom to take a shower so I can get ready for the day before I head in to the strip club tonight.
