Chapter Seventeen

Eagle

FORTY-EIGHT FUCKINGHOURS. Rebel has been missing for two damn days and we don’t have the first fucking clue where she’s being held by her abusive ex, Chad. He beat the fuck out of her and knocked her out before taking her when she was less than sixty feet from me. I might have been in the office of Entice, but if I had been able to have the monitors on while she was taking the garbage out I would have seen it and stopped her from being taken. Guilt weighs heavily on me with every passing second, I can’t help but feel as if this is all my fault and I could’ve prevented this from happening to Rebel because it’s what I’m supposed to do as her man. I know Cash feels just as guilty as I do. We had a long talk last night about everything because both of us are going out of our fucking minds knowing Reaper has benched us and we’re not allowed to go out in search of our ol’ lady because we’re too close and he doesn’t want us going rogue and taking matters into our own hands if we find our girl. We understand where he’s coming, but it doesn’t mean we have to like it.

Several men have been tasked with following Fawn any time she’s not at Entice. So far, she’s managed to lose them at one point or another. We’re still not sure if she’s figured out our guys are following her or if she’s just somehow getting lucky with evading them. All I know is it’s fucking killing me because she could lead us to Rebel and it’s not happening. Our guys aren’t new to following people so this shit makes no sense to me. However, Hawk has come up with a solution to this skank getting away from us. He’s going to head to the club in my place tonight and put a tracker on her car while she’s inside dancing. Since she’s still on the last schedule before I changed her hours and spot in the line-up, Fawn still has no clue shit is going down and her world is about to fucking end because she values being the dancer in the spotlight at all costs. We’ve learned that more than once since she started working at the club. The bitch has no morals and will go against everyone not helping her to get ahead in life.

Reaper has been keeping us updated with any new information that comes in from the guys out searching. It’s a lot of nothing at this point. There hasn’t been any sign of Chad around Clinton over the last few weeks. The few people who did see him before his disappearance, said he told people he was just driving through town on his way to another destination. Those same people informed the guys they were given various locations of his travels. Yes, people in Clinton talk about this kind of shit all the time and they know something is going on. Especially with the club out in force searching for any sign of him or Rebel. Everyone in town knows our ol’ lady and they all love her. She’s such a pure, loving person it makes sense that everyone loves her and will go out of their way to protect her. So far, the guys have said everyone is worried about her and will keep an eye out for any sign of them and call the club immediately. Several of the guys have left their phone numbers for any information.

My dad has been up our asses as Cash and I hang out at the club. He doesn’t leave us even though he wants to be out searching for Rebel with everyone else. However, he watched me destroy my office and then Cash finish what I didn’t after watching Chad attack Rebel. Now, he won’t leave us alone for any reason. From what I’ve understood, he’s even slept in a chair outside our rooms so we can’t sneak out. Yes, growing up, we might have taken to sneaking out a time or two when he didn’t let us go out to a party, club, or something like that. When he knows he can no longer remain awake, my dad gets a Prospect to take over and promise to call him when we leave our rooms. Then, a second Prospect is brought in if one of us isn’t awake yet or we’ve split up for any reason.

Reaper hasn’t been sleeping or going home with Alex and their children. He’s been locked in his office, waiting on phone calls and messages from those out scouring our town while also calling our allies in surrounding towns to keep an eye out for any sign of Chad and Rebel. These allies all now have pictures of Rebel and the stupid fuck to compare to anyone they believe resemble them. They’ve also been out asking people in their towns if anyone matching the descriptions have been seen in town.

My brother has rarely left his office since Rebel was taken. He’s another one who feels guilty because I wasn’t able to access the monitors during the attack. Hawk has been dealing with continuing to dig up any and all information on Chad and Fawn. Including a list of all properties in their names or the names of family members to see if any of them are even close to Clinton. He’s discovered more about Chad and all the shady dealings he’s been involved in over the years. Not just since he was Rebel, but before he was with her. He’s also discovered shady dealings with Chad’s father during his years of being a judge. This fucker has accepted bribes, ruled against juries who found people guilty, and other things no judge should ever do. This will not only get his ass fired, but will be more than enough for his wife to lose all of her seats with various charities she works with. Especially those she is in charge of. I know I wouldn’t want her in charge of any money or have details she’s had access to over the years. Not because of her, but because of her husband. That’s simply my opinion though.

“Eagle, what’s goin’ on?” Cash asks, walking up to me after falling asleep since he didn’t sleep last night.

“Nothin’. Haven’t heard of anythin’ since last night when Reaper updated us. We’ll either get another one this afternoon at some point or tonight,” I answer him as he takes a seat and the Prospect behind the bar hands over a cup of coffee while Reagan brings him a plate of food. Mine is still sitting in front of me, mainly full of the food I haven’t eaten.

“This is bullshit!” Cash explodes as Reaper and my brother enter the common room and head in our direction.

“Any updates?” I ask them when they get close to us since there’s virtually no one in the clubhouse right now.

“None. You’re needed at Entice tonight though. Cash, your dad, and Hawk are gonna go with you. Don’t engage in Fawn’s bullshit or let on that we know anythin’. Hawk and Titan will make sure they get the tracker on her car at some point durin’ the night. If she acts off, I want you to let us know immediately,” Reaper informs me as I look at the time and see I’ve got a few hours before I’d need to show up.

“I’m gonna head up for a nap then. Cash, you can crash in my room if you want. I know you didn’t sleep last night and only got a few hours. If you’re goin’ with me, I want to get there early so no one knows we’re there. We’ll take one of the club’s SUVs so everyone who’s not a member believes only my dad and Hawk are there,” I tell him as Cash nods his head and drains the rest of the coffee in his cup while pushing the plate of food away. Neither one of us has an appetite.

We make our way upstairs to my room and lock ourselves inside. Cash makes his way to the couch in my room since Rebel won’t be sharing a bed with us right now. After getting comfortable, I get in bed and roll over on my side letting my eyes close as I hear Cash start to snore slightly. He’s so exhausted it takes him no time at all to crash. I’m not far behind him as I fall into a sleep filled with nightmares about everything Chad could be doing to our girl.

After showering andgetting ready for the night at Entice, I leave my room to find Cash just leaving his room as well. Together we make our way to the common room that’s now filled with members and ol’ ladies. A few of the kids are running around or sitting and eating dinner. I don’t stop to interact with them as Cash and I head for the main door while my dad and brother get up and follow us from the clubhouse. They’re prepared to get to the club early tonight so Cash and I can hide out in my office while they pretend to run the club in my absence so Titan can leave early if he needs to. At the drop of a hat it’s given that he’ll take off if we get any information on Rebel’s location.

“Are you ready for this?” my dad questions us as he pulls out of the parking lot and heads to Entice.

“There’s really nothin’ to be ready for. We’re gonna sit in my office all night long while Hawk does his thing with the trackin’ device and the club runs as if I’m there,” I answer him, my voice devoid of all emotion because there’s nothing to feel but guilt and rage.

I’ve thought of all the ways I plan on dealing with Chad when I finally get my hands on him. Cash and I have talked about everything we plan on doing to him as we make him pay for what he’s done to Rebel while feeling every ounce of pain he’s inflicted on her. We plan on doing everything possible to this fucker who feels it’s okay to hurt a woman and take our ol’ lady from us. Chad is a piece of shit who deserves to be taken out of the world so women have one less monster to fear. His parents, at least his father, also deserves to pay for helping to create this asshole and more than likely making him feel so entitled that he doesn’t fear paying consequences for any of his actions. So far, it’s the truth because Chad has never once suffered for the crimes he’s committed against others.
