I cleaned her up slowly, each of us enjoying the fact that we could study her uninhibitedly.
“Can we keep her forever?” Key asked, breaking the silence after she was all cleaned up.
“Of course we can,” Darth stated, linking his fingers in hers even if she was too knocked out to grasp them back. “She’s always belonged to us. It just took us all a while to get here.”
“She came to us because she’s also scared,” Seb said. “With her family’s history of ovarian cancer, she has every right to be concerned and take control of her future.”
“It’s not just that,” I told them, not wanting to reveal a secret while Nyx was sleep but needing my brothers to realize how monumental `it was that she was here with us today.
“We’ve always known that Nyx was strong as hell, but the kidnapping and sexual assault wasn’t the only thing she faced three years ago.” I brushed a few of her faux locs from her face. “She also had an abortion,” I revealed, my eyes still on her peaceful face despite the tension I could feel radiating off my brothers bodies.
“That asshole Tim got her pregnant?” Darth asked, trying his best to keep his voice low as to not wake Nyx. “We all could tell by the state we found her in that he had raped her, but I wasn’t aware she went through that alone.”
“She wasn’t alone,” I told them, leaning down to briefly kiss her lips, loving the way she smiled even in her sleep. “I was with her every step of the way. I took her to a creditable doctor, waswith her at the appointment, and as you all remember, we took turns taking care of her the week she stayed here.”
“Until she pushed us away,” Key reminded.
“She was grieving,” I told them, my own emotions clogging my throat.
I finally lifted my head from Nyx to observe my brothers, not at all surprised by their empathetic expressions.
“Why didn’t you tell us before now?” Darth asked.
I shrugged. “I thought about it so many times, but telling y’all wouldn’t change the circumstances. Plus, I was devastated myself, but it didn’t seem fair when compared to what Nyx was feeling.”
“Shit,” Seb voiced. “I was afraid that was the case when you told us you supported her through it.”
“What was the case?” Key asked.
“That the reason I went with Nyx was to be there for her,” I told him. “But also, it was because there was no way of knowing if she had gotten pregnant by Tim … or me. The dates of me taking her virginity and him raping her were too close.”
“Fuck,” Key huffed. “Cash, that’s messed up.”
“I couldn’t watch her go through nine months of agony, especially if the baby ended up not being mine. Nyx would have dealt with it had I asked, but how could I?”
“And here I was fighting with you every chance I got,” Darth disclosed, his words full of guilt.
“You didn’t know,” I defended. “Besides, you can’t tell me that you all don’t think that despite how fucked up everything got, now felt kinda perfect.”
Our eyes all went back to observing a still sleeping Nyx.
“You’re right,” Darth stated, running his long fingers up and down the length of her body. “She has us now and we’ll protect her from everything.”
Truer words were never spoken. And after today, there was nothing she would do alone again.
Chapter Seven
Nyx
Istirred awake in quietness of the morning as the sunlight filtered through the heavy drapes in the bedroom.Whose room am I in?My mind was still groggy as I tried to remember which brother had placed me in his bed, when the bedroom door busted open.
“Finally, you’re awake,” Key teased, racing to the bed and jumping in beside me. I laughed at his playfulness, now noting the details in the jovial décor that should have been a dead giveaway that it was Key’s room.
“We have a surprise for you, but I was starting to think you would never get up.”
I smiled at Key’s words as he sprang out of bed and bounced around the room in excitement, wondering what they had in store for me after such an amazing, sex-filled extended weekend. Granted I had slept for longer than I ever had after having the best seventy-two-hour sexual experience of my life, but the guys were slowly finding creative ways to wake me up, as if the smell of breakfast and coffee was too normal.
I groaned, rubbing my eyes. “What surprise?”
