I wasn’t about to leave Thea waiting any longer, though. She wanted to be entertained, and we’d been waiting for weeks to get even just a glimpse of the person she was before. I shrugged, heading for the closet. “Suit yourself, bro.”

Chapter Nine

Thea

Asnowball hit my shoulder blade when I turned, shielding my face. My lower lip pushed out in a pout. That was hit number five. I’d only gotten Hendrix once, and I was pretty sure he felt bad and stood still so I’d actually hit him.

“That’s five, baby. Game over,” Hendrix said. His lips curled in a silly grin, and he stalked toward me.

“Cheater,” I taunted, taking a slow step back.

“I didn’t cheat. You just have horrible aim.” He reached me, a finger grabbing ahold of a loose strand of hair, and he twirled it.

“Though, I should have put a wager on it.” His voice grew thick with lust, and like always, my stomach flipped with anticipation.

I liked the sweet sides to Hendrix, but I liked the primal part of him, too. The part of him that let his darkness shine through. It was rare, especially when he was able to take out a lot of his frustration with Parker.

But when he got that dark glint in his eyes, coupled with that dirty grin of his, I couldn’t help the excitement that fluttered through me.

“Yeah?” I asked, forcing myself to remain still. Unlike Calder, I never fought Hendrix’s commands. I enjoyed pleasing Hendrixwhile I loved the way my refusal to comply ruffled Calder’s feathers.

I swallowed, my throat suddenly dry. “What would you have put on the line?”

He tilted his head so his mouth was close to my ear. “I’d have told you that if you won, I’d drop to my knees in the woods and feast on that sweet pussy of yours.”

I groaned, still frozen in place when he pressed the palm of his hand between my legs. “And if I lost?” I asked.

“I’d have made you get on yours and swallow my dick.”

My heart raced. I inhaled the scent of his spicy cologne, and my mouth parted of its own accord, desperate to taste the bead of sweat falling from his temple. “We could play another game,” I whispered.

He chuckled, the warm air of his breath tickling my cheek. He still held me in place with his hand between my leg. “Should we play hide and seek?”

My eyes widened, but I didn’t respond. I wanted to play, but also, what if I got lost in these woods? I wasn’t familiar with the area, and we were closing in on sunset. That fear was something I’d have given into years ago. Before I knew the safety of the guys I’d fallen for.

I didn’t want to be scared anymore. It’d been why I left Paisley’s father and moved to a different state. But now, knowing that they’d do anything to keep me safe, the fear was more than just about dying or being hurt. It was an adrenaline rush that always ended in arousal.

I trusted Hendrix with every fiber in my body. So I nodded, yet couldn’t form any words.

Hendrix took a step back, the smile he was wearing one with excitement. He nodded once, then crossed his arms over his chest. “Run, kitten.”

The fear crossed with excitement, swirling liquid heat in my belly. My heart was pounding so fast that I could practically hear the rhythmic pounding in my ears. I didn’t waste a second and took off through the snow-covered trees.

The sound of snow crunching under his boots was already near, and I could tell he was already close to catching me. I tucked my chin to my chest and ran as fast as I could.

I was already getting out of breath. Running was never something that I enjoyed, and Hendrix was way more in shape than I’d ever be. It didn’t take him long to wrap his hands around my waist. He pulled my back against his hard chest and I shrieked.

“Not fair! You didn’t give me a head start.” I struggled in his grip, feigning a fight to get free.

“Of course not, pup. You didn’t really think I’d let you out of my sight, did you?” His hands gripped me tight while I softened my body, no longer interested in playing.

“No,” I said, my voice thick with the desire flowing freely in my veins.

A hand moved to my mouth, and he slid a finger inside. My tongue swirled along the salty pad of his finger, pulling a groan from him. Hendrix’s foot tapped against the inside of my leg. I spread my legs wide for him, and the hand gripping my waist circled to the small of my back.

“Get on your knees. Drop your pants.”

I glanced down at the snow covered ground. A shiver ran through me. “But the ground is frozen.”
