I silence her with another kiss, this one softer, sweeter. “I’m fucking thrilled, princess. Over the goddamn moon.” I nudge her nose with mine. “I know it’s fast. I know we didn’t exactly plan this, but… it feels right, doesn’t it?”
She beams at me. “It does.”
I drop to my knees in front of her, pushing up the hem of her shirt to reveal the still-flat plane of her stomach. But there’s a baby in there. Our baby.
Reverently, I press my lips below her belly button. “Hey there, little one.”
Lil makes a choked sound above me, her fingers sifting through my hair. I glance up to see fresh tears rolling down her face, but she’s smiling. Beaming.
I rest my cheek against her stomach, my arms banding around her waist. She cradles my head to her, and we stay like that. Wrapped up in each other, in this moment. In our little family.
I’m going to be a dad. And I can’t fucking wait.
“Is it a boy or a girl?”
“Take a guess.”
