Chapter1
Sebastian
My hands clamp down on the steering wheel of my car parked outside the chapel.
To the asshole who broke my heart.
A bitter laugh bursts out from my chest.
I am that asshole.
We could’ve had it all if she hadn’t betrayed me.Shebrokemefirst. Is she trying to rub it in? To show me how much better off she is without me? How happy she is now—with Jason?
I’d been so sure she loved me, but in the end, she’d chosen her conniving uncle over me. It destroyed everything we had, leaving behind a gaping void inside of me since.
Do I confront her? Walk away? Pretend none of this ever happened? Kidnap her?
“Damn it.”
Why am I even here? Watching and waiting like some lovesick fool. I should despise her.
My fingers drum against the steering wheel.
And yet…
I’m here. The thought of Lil pledging herself to another man makes my blood simmer. I can’t stay away, even if it destroys me.
She calmed me, and the memory of her smile, the feel of her in my arms, the taste of her lips—all of it haunts me. Every fucking day. Every second. No matter how hard I try to escape.
Oh, and I tried. But it doesn’t matter how beautiful the woman I’m with is because all I see is her.
I can’t stop remembering the way she looked at me, touched me, and whispered my name like a prayer.
I slam my fist into the steering wheel, and the horn blares, startling an elderly couple walking by.
She should’ve been mine.
She should’ve been walking down the aisle to me, not him.
One last time, princess.
I shove open the car door and stalk toward the back entrance.
Break my heart. One last time.
Maybe then, I can finally let go.
Chapter 2
Lilian
This is it. My wedding. My palms grow clammy around the railing of the balcony overlooking the reception hall.
This should be a beautiful day, but it’s the worst I could imagine.
The chandeliers glint coldly overhead, illuminating the extravagant floral arrangements on every table below.
