“I find it interesting you didn’t appear concerned when we were under water.”

“I didn’t think you’d cross a line.”

I planted one hand on the window, enjoying the fact I towered over her. “What line did I cross, Kara?”

“Decency.” She tried to move under my outstretched arm and the dark beast inside of me took over every aspect of common sense and perhaps humanity.

After grabbing her drink, placing both on the end table, I wrapped my hand around her throat, pushing her back against the glass. “Not so fast.”

“We’re not doing this,” she insisted, her eyes even more fiery than before.

While keeping my fingers holding her long neck, I used the other to untie the belt on her robe very slowly. She pressed both her hands against my chest, her breathing uneven. “I don’t want you.”

“Tell yourself another lie, Kara.”

“I’m not lying. I don’t want you.”

I took my time peeling the two sides of her robe away from her luscious body. Being able to see more of her in the light was the motivation I needed. The second I rolled the tip of my finger along her breastbone, tracing around one breast, she shuddered.

As soon as I lifted my gaze, I was given a sweet reward. She dragged the tip of her tongue across her bottom lip.

Her sweet scent of desire wafted to my nostrils and my hunger was ready to explode. I rolled a finger around her already taut nipple before rubbing the palm of my hand down her stomach. Using my knee, I kicked her legs apart and slipped my hand between them.

“Tell me another lie, Kara. Tell me you don’t want me.”

She shifted her head to the side, clenching her eyes shut. “I don’t want you. How could I want a man who’s done terrible things? How could I want anyone who enjoys killing people? You’re a very bad man and there’s nothing you can do to hide facts.” Her words were meant as a kiss off, yet she was arching her back, jutting out her rounded hips. Everything about her was beautiful including the way her long, dark eyelashes floated across her shimmering cheeks. She was flushed, the color the softest rose just like her lips.

My mind lingered on tasting them again.

And I would.

“Then what do you want? Tell me, Kara. Be honest with me.” My behavior was savage, but there wasn’t a single doubt in my mind that was exactly what she wanted.

As well as everything she needed.

“I…”

“Tell me.” My voice was even more demanding. As I fingered her clit, she shifted her hips back and forth. A single moan was precious, my cock aching to the point of pain. “Tell. Me. Now.”

Her eyes flew open, her pupils slightly dilated. She reached out, raking her long nails down my arm. A light string of blood followed.

The woman liked it rough. That’s exactly what I would give her.

“Fuck me. Just fuck me.”

CHAPTER 13

Kara

I should be afraid of him, terrified. He had his hand wrapped around my throat. With a quick snap of his wrist, he could easily break my neck.

But he had no intention of doing so. This was all about asserting his control.

I’d gotten under his skin when commenting on the phone call he’d received. I’d easily read between the lines. He’d attempted to keep me from knowing he was preparing to interrogate someone, but I’d seen this before. In real life, not just in movies.

The thought of him killing someone for revenge was both stimulating and horrifying. I was shocked from feeling both sides of the coin.

There were all types of men in the world. Some were beautiful reminders of why a girl should always keep a sharp knife and a can of pepper spray with her. There were others who were sweet as could be and very reliable, but not attractive in the least. Then there were the jerks, the ones who believed themselves to be God’s gift to women, acting as if the girl they deemed decent enough to be in their lives should bow down and kiss their feet.
