Lying asshole.
“Kellyisdead,” he says, before sighing. “Monroe is not.”
So, he has multiple sisters. Shouldn’t I know this after fucking him several times. Now that I think about it, he’s always the bastard asking questions. Convenient much?
“Look, I know this is all kinds of fucked up…” He trails off and I roll my eyes.
“Cooper, the time for keeping shit close is over. You called me, remember?” I say, waving my hand even though he can’t see me.
“Fine. Beast fucked her and she ran off. The last time anyone heard from her was a few weeks ago.”
His defeated tone hurts my heart, but I set it aside, contemplating his words.
“Do you know where?”
“No, but she may have gotten the crazy idea from my brother,” he says.
Okay, he has a brother too. “Does he have any idea?”
“No, it’s complicated. Look, Kelly, and my dad, they were murdered…”
“Jesus, Coop,” I whisper, glancing in the rear-view mirror.
They were both murdered?
“Right. Well, my brother’s been looking into my dad and Kelly’s deaths. We think it’s related to the mafia.”
The mafia? His family was killed by the fucking mafia and now his sister is gone. If she disappeared, she’s more than likely dead. How do I say that without being a complete bitch though?
“I know what you’re thinking, but she’s smart. She wouldn’t risk herself or Hudson.”
“Who?”
“My brother.”
“Wait? Your brother? Just how many family members do you have hanging out with fucking goons?” I breathe.
He hesitates and I grip the wheel. Shit. I thoughtmyfamily brought the drama.
“No one knows,” he finally says, and I nod.
“Okay.”
Swallowing, I glance around for a spot to park, thankful I’m back at the apartment because I can’t process what he’s saying and drive like a normal human being at the same time.
“I just…we need to talk,” he says.
“Coop…”
I don’t know how to help him, especially considering my sister’s involvement in whatever. This could be more dangerous than either of us know.
“Please, we need to talk.”
“Fine,” I mumble.
“Okay,” he breathes. “I’ll be back in town tomorrow.”
“Right,” I mumble, swerving into a spot and leaning my head against the steering wheel.
