He was right.

We were screwed.

We couldn’t take this shit to the club, and we couldn’t call the one person who could possibly shed some light on the subject.

Until we knew more, we were on our own.

“There is something else I found,” Vicious said, walking back over to Shame’s computer. Picking up a tablet, he touched the screen and turned it toward me.

“Who the fuck is she?” I asked, looking at a live feed of a beautiful woman sitting at a computer. She was stunning.

“Don’t tell me on top of everything else, Shame was a perv, too?”

“I don’t think so.” Vicious shook his head. “The woman on the screen is Carly Mitchell. The daughter of Sienna Mitchell. The former head of theSociety. More importantly, she is Reaper’s niece and Bullseye’s cousin.”

“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me?”

“I wish I were. After the Golden Skulls took down theSociety, Carly disappeared with Salvatore Valentinetti. As far as I know, Reaper or Bullseye haven’t seen or heard from her since. But I’ll give you one guess who helped her disappear.”

“Sypher?”

Vicious nodded.

In the end, Vicious and I decided to keep everything to ourselves.

We really didn’t have a choice. Not with the current state of affairs in the underworld, and that didn’t include the shit going on with Reaper and the Golden Skulls.

After finding the owner of the apartment building and making a large contribution to his bank account, he gave me the spare keys to Shame’s apartment and promised to call right away if anyone was caught snooping around.

“Remind me again why you are keeping that thing?” Vicious smirked as we hopped into his vehicle.

“Because Shame was watching her for a reason. If she’s in trouble, I need to know.”

“Brother, we don’t even know where she’s at.”

“That’s where this pad comes in. Wherever she is, Shame set up all the bells and whistles. There are cameras in every room, minus the bathrooms. Trust me. I’ve lived in this city my entire life. All I need is a landmark and I will know where she’s at.”

“Well good luck with that.” My brother chuckled, starting his SUV. “I have a feeling you’re going to need it. In the meantime, Mercy’s been blowing up my phone. We need to head to the clubhouse.”

Chapter Five

Carly

October 31st, 2024, Halloween night...

Checking myself in the mirror, I couldn’t believe I let Drew talk me into this. I loved that boy, but sometimes I wondered if he inherited his father’s twisted sense of humor.

Shaking my head, I turned away from the mirror and shouted, “Drew, hurry up or you’re going to miss all the fun!”

Checking my outfit one more time, I rolled my eyes when I heard him thundering, or more correctly, flying down the hallway with his black cape behind him. “I’m ready!”

Smiling, I chuckled. “I see that. I must say, you look very dark and dangerously handsome.”

“Batman is not handsome, Mom,” he huffed. “He’s rich.”

“My apologies.” I sobered, then curtsied before him. “And what do you think of my costume?”

“You look great!”
