I blinked.

“I’m real. I’m an orc. This body? It’s mine. I was born this way.”

Nothing about his words felt like a lie.

In fact, if anything, it felt like—for the first time—I could really accept what I saw in front of me.

And then he added, “There’s something else.”

“Yeah?” A pit formed in my belly.

“There’s something else and I need you to trust me.”

I trusted him through telling me he was a green monster. How could this be any different? Right?

Chapter Ten

Thrain

“What is it?” he asked, curious as he had been all day. Talking to Lucas and learning from each other was a whole different experience. Usually humans kept their distance and took a step back when we revealed ourselves. And Lucas knew before I told him. He might not have realized it, but nothing shocked him about me saying I was an orc.

Lucas never faltered. He’d touched me several times during the meal. Grabbing a dish from the table. A brush of his hand against mine when laughing at something I’d said.

If he was my fated, then I was his as well. Fate worked that way. Still, humans took time to trust those feelings. They didn’t lean in and let their instincts lead the way.

“I wanted you to see my other side.”

He cocked his head and rested his face on his palm while his elbow rested on the table. So strange. He volunteered when others would sprint away screaming. “Other side?”

“Yes. I can take the form of a human. That way, if I go somewhere where orcs are not welcome or would cause chaos, I can blend in.”

“Wow. I had no idea. So you’re a shifter of sorts.”

I nodded. “I am. I can shift at will.”

Dark eyes roamed my body and though he was across the table from me, I felt his gaze as though it were hands touching me I didn’t miss the way he paused at my groin. “What happens to your clothes? I imagine there’s a big difference in size.”

Taking in a long drag of his scent, I realized that wasn’t the only thing he was imagining. His arousal softened almost all parts of me and, in that moment, I wanted nothing more than to get on my knees and ease his ache. Goddess, I bet his slick tastedlike candy. “I would have to take off all my clothes to shift, but this outfit is interchangeable with my human form.”

Lucas nodded. “I get a feeling this is something you want to show me.”

Nodding, I took a chance and reached for his hand. His was small in my larger one, but he didn’t pull away. Instead, he rubbed the pad of his thumb over the area between my thumb and my forefinger. A small motion, but my cock throbbed with that bit of affection. “I do. I want to show you all of me.”

Double meaning absolutely intended.

“I want to see all of you.” A pause hung between us before he added, “Go on, Thrain. Show me.”

I stood and took off my shield and then my leather bracelets. In seconds, I willed my human form to come forth. I was the same height in that form, but my muscle tone was a bit deflated.

Other parts of me stayed the same as well.

Lucas stood and walked around me in a circle, pausing behind me. My body filled with heat as he took me in. “You’re still tall. Still built. But there’s something about you…it’s like you lost something.”

“Muscle tone?” I asked.

“No.” His hand grazed the small of my back. “That’s not it. How often do you take this form?”

I chuckled. “I could stay this way if you like it more. Or, if you prefer, I might say. I know being around an orc can be a lot for some humans. My dad and mom found it hard to go out in public at first. Times have changed since they were mated, but if you’re more comfortable…”
